Hi, just completing my F550 build, everything seems to do what its meant to do and I am happy with the way the naza and TX are configured. Just one more thing bothering me - the gain settings. Have tried to do my research and have found that there are many different opinions on what there should be. I understand its complex and there are many different factors that influence what the gain settings should be. I'm hoping someone can advise as the recommended settings from DJI seem to be greatly different from what people in the real world are using. Can anyone recommend or have experience with settings for the following setup (or maybe something similar) -

DJI 550 frame + landing gear
E305 propulsion kit with 800kv motors
Naza M V2 (latest firmware)
Gens Ace 5000 mAh 4S 60C LiPo
total weight is 2005 grams

Really hoping I can get some suggestions and I dont have to learn the hard way as I have invested a lot of time and money building this drone, just want some settings that will make it fly safely the first time

Its been a while since flying my F550, the attached image shows the gains I use.  Prop size has an effect on settings, I use 10" also battery cell #, I use 3S.  I initially flew with higher settings (175 P & R) but preferred the lower settings.  Your 4S bat is going to make the machine much more responsive.
My experience with tuning has been if gains are too high the machine tends to oscillate and motor speed hunt up and down.  However it is more dangerous to have gains too low as it may not recover from a disturbance and flip over.

Thanks Hummingbird, thats a big help. How heavy is your 550 ? My understanding is that less weight = less gain required. Did using the larger 10" inch props reduce or increase the required gains ? would have thought decreased ?

My F550 weighs just a bit over 2kg.  I used 8" props and used higher gains ~145. Motors had to spin faster for liftoff and flight time was a bit shorter using a 3S bat.  However with a 4S bat 8" props performance may be better.
