Hi,
Today my Mavic arrived.
Unfortunaly there is something wrong with the rc's screen. I think.
I've noticed it when I cleaned the screen (carefully) with my finger.

Is it normal that the display freaks out when you slightly touch it at the edge of the screen?
It would be really nice if someone who owns a Mavic could check this behaviour. Or maybe Dji could say something about this?

Thank you,
Dirk

Static electricity.  If you keep wiping it like that, you'll scratch it.

So you think no fault, just part of the used Technology?
I am wiping it really carefully ;)

Mine does not do that.If you are that concerned about it then you can send it in.
The RC has a 1 year warranty so if anything happens it's covered if there's any defect.

Is the rc hot? Probably needs more conductive paste. Haven't seen that with mine either

No, only the RC should work. But contact support and start a ticket and they will tell you what to send in.
Honestly, if the RC is working fine then I would keep it as there's a 1yr warranty. But it's totally up to you.

Okay, thank you. I will do my TestFlight tomorrow and check all the features my p3a does't have. If anything will work fine i will keep the rc for now and see what happens in the next year ;)

Mine did a lot worse than that when I first opened the box, had smears and streaks all over it when I wiped my finger across.
I put it down to it being cold, was delivered at 5pm on a cold November night having been in the back of a van all day.
Once I turned it off and charged it, and it reached room temp it has been fine since.

Temperature was my first idea too. But the rc is now nearly 12h at room temp. So this can't be the problem.
I am now sure it is the static eletricity. I can see this behavior also when i am not touching the display. I move my finger above the edge of the display in the air and the strips are visible. When i touch the display with a touchpen for example there are no strange lines. So it is not the force which have affect to the display.

So is it a normal thing or is maybe a "grounding" (?) missing inside?
Ken, can you please check this with the engineers? I am a little bit scared that the rc stops working midflight.

Then send it in and exchange it and post the case#.
They would probably want to see it anyways.

When you say I am safe to fly it is okay for me for now. I just dont want to loose or crash the drone.
I thought you can talk to them, if they say it is normal or it is part of the technology,  i would be pleased.

If you cant do this i must send it in, although i dont want to.
Thank you anyway

I have already sent a message inquiring about it.
I don't know how long it would take to get a response.
I don't thing your flight would be affected.

Mine does the same and has been fine. If anything, mine freaks out even more than yours. It does it whether it's hot, cold or at normal room temps. Press it a little harder and it looks like the display is all crackled, but goes back to normal after a few seconds. I just assumed it was normal

Anything with an LCD display will do just what you see.  It is static charge, that's all.  Even a wristwatch will do it.  breath your hot, moist breath on it and it will disappear immediately.  Your humidity must be fairly low.

Yeah, you are right. With some moist breath on it no sign of an odd behavior. The humidity is 55% in my room..mhh, should be okay.
Strange that not everyone can see this phenomenon... Whatever, i know i am safe to fly. So let's have some fun

Is it still doing it? Touch something metallic, put the controller in touch with something metallic as well, and see if it's still happening.  Looks like static.

Yes it is still doing it.. When i am back at home from work i will test the "touch metallic while touching the rc" method.

Oh sorry. Tested it. Same behavior.
When some moist breath is on it everything is okay.
So it must be the static electricity.
