I have been trying to track down a battery drain on my samsung note 4, a phone I have used for nearly a year before seeing this drain. I just uninstalled it since I have the P4P+ and don't really need it now. Has anyone else noticed this battery drain mystery?

Yes, same - draining about 5% per day according to battery meter.  Have set the app not to upload over cellular, which I saw somewhere else fixed the original DJI Go app drain, but has had no effect.   Have manually Force Stopped today to try and stop it.

I found that it was the biggest drain on my battery over the last 5 days or so, prior to this the app didn't even register as using background battery. Something in a recent update perhaps. I uninstalled it for now, but I hope they fix it -- so I can have more battery for actually flying.

I am seeing this too, after recently purchasing a mavic. The app drains several percent each day and uses data even through it's not running.

Not good enough, DJI!

I have a Samsung 7 Edge. I went to my files then documents and found DJ I was in contact with my phone at least 3 times a day even when I'm not flying it.

I have seen on my Note 3 a big drain on the battery while not even using DJI GO app. To avoid that, I go in the app manager and  force the stop of the app. When I need it, I just start it, but after flying, I "kill" it.

I have the same issue since the latest update (i have not flown my mavic for a month but just started a again a few days ago..after firmware and app updates)

The Go4 app will drain my s7 in a couple of hours if i leave it running in the background. It turns it into a very good hand warmer too! Funny as it doesnt really tax the s7 battery or cpu when i have the app open and drone connected.

Thankfully samsung detects the high battery usage and promots you to correct it by force closing Go4 but DJI you really do need to sort out the quality of your software. No app should have this amount if power drain running in the background!

FYI

i have been talking to customer support.

They say the problem is known, and they are working on a solution.
With the next app update, the problem should be solved....

hope that they get it fixed.

Without the Go4 my phone's (Blackview BV7000 - noname one, but with big battery) lifetime was 2 days. With the Go4 less than 1. I must force shut down the app after every flight from the apps manager...
We are waiting for the soulution from DJI! Thx!

I'm seeing the same issue. Battery usage of 3-5% per day although I didn't start the app or even fly. The firewall shows the DJI Go 4 App on Android is constantly creating network traffic on WLAN and mobile data and reaches out to China. Here are some examples:

117.121.49.81:7003 -- a place in Beijing/Peking, China
117.121.49.81:7002 -- a place in Beijing/Peking, China
117.121.49.81:3000 -- a place in Beijing/Peking, China
118.145.3.95:7001 -- a place in Beijing/Peking, China
121.46.20.45.3000 -- a place in Guangdong, China
121.46.25.194:7007 -- a place in Guangdong, China

Using WHOIS on these IPs only shows me the ISP if I understand it correctly.

...and on top of that it is probing the local network too:
192.168.1.1:5678
192.168.1.1:2345
192.168.1.1:19003
192.168.1.1:9005
192.168.1.1:9003
192.168.1.2:53

I've contacted online chat support but they were not getting the problem: "kindly disable firewall..."?! So far no explanation what the app is doing and why.

Best Wishes,

Ralf

That is probably the reason the U. S. Army has grounded its DJI drones .
I understand they were told to take out the batteries and not use them at all .

The Army Grounds Its DJI Drones Over Security Concerns
https://www.wired.com/story/army-dji-drone-ban/

Maybe that partially explains why the battery drain on my Android went down 20 percent in 30 minutes with no use - when it usually stays close to 100 percent all night when not used .
I haven't even gotten my first Mavic charged up yet and the Go App drains the phone battery .

There is nothing mysterious about this, the DJI Go apps use applications called Services, just the same as Windows and iOS does. These applications load at the time the phone is booted up and stay running all the time, even though the Go App has been closed. It is all explained quite well in this video: http://forum.dji.com/thread-108360-1-4.html

There is a lot to be said for having a single device you only use to fly your aircraft and shut down when not flying.

Hmm, now that I think about it further - have you done any checks on the DJI Assistant 2 Windows Application ?
