I went through the process of trying to bind my newly installed camera to my iphone 5 - when I try to scan the qr code - it says ' "qr code is invalid" ...Help! please...Thanks.

You don't bind the phone to the phantom, just connect to the phantom Wi-Fi.
The binding procedure is only needed if you have changed the range extender or Wi-Fi module in the phantom.

I use android, and it just works out of the box as long as I connect to the phantom Wi-Fi after turning mobile data off from the phone menu.

Section 8 page 24 of the latest manual will walk you through the process....
  

Sorry - didn't work - I'm not binding the phone to the phantom - I'm trying to bind the phone to the camera on the phantom and it says because it's a new camera I have to "bind" it to the phone - so that the phone can see what the camera can see.

OK..the issue has been fixed. I contacted DJI support - (support@dji.com) and they asked for the serial number of:

My Phantom, My Camera and My Range Extender and they generated a new QR code for me by e-mail. It Worked!!
