The latter version will likely work the best.

Its faster processor will handle the power hungry app more efficiently.

I still think the iPad Air2 Cellular is boss. ;-)

A Mini3 is nothing but a Mini2 with TouchID.

That said - from a technology standpoint the Mini2 is old . Pushing 4 years old in September. It will work now, but fully expect it to be retired very soon, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it not supported by IOS11  when that's released in April. It has 1/2 the memory that the Mini4 has, and is essentially the same hardware as an iPhone 5. Think about it this way: If you needed a new phone right now would an iPhone 5 be a contender?

Apple as been strangely silent re: the fate of the Mini, but the new Pro's will be announced soon, and I'd expect a small form factor Pro, or the Mini4 to be the only one left in the line.

I use a Mini 4 WiFi and have had no problems. As with any computer based product buy to the price point that you feel comfortable with.

Hi, I use iPad mini 4 & DJI Go 4, its been great. As said in the above posts get the newest you can afford, also the processing power will play a big part in running the dji go apps efficiently.

IPad's GPS signal problem in Phantom 4 solved!,
If you have a dgi pro the I Pad is the best way to go for a perfect conection without breaks, but unfortunately almost all of them have a problem with the GPS signal, it is too weak as you can see in the picture, so you have to spend an extra 172 eur on an adapter if you don't want to risk loosing your drone in case of a crush. As I could not find the answer to this situation neither by Apple nor by DGI here it goes:
You have two options the Garmin glo or the Sky Pro Dual, both are expensive but also compatible with IOS and have the glonass

128 g of space... :-)  with less space apps performance will go down = less power = more space = better app performance = more power to fly and fly and fly...{ :4_96:}

Performance is limited by the A7 processor.  My iPad Air2 has an AX8. ;-)
So I guess it's 64gb will suffice... Haha

Actually the MINI4 has an A8 and NOT A7 but who is counting

He is asking about the MINI and NOT the AIR... I have a Pro too which has more power than your AIR but NO one is comparing

Between the all different MINI, the MINI4 has more power and with more space he can have more videos and stills which will last longer than the 32G space which come back to my point:

With less space, the apps won't perform at 100% and becomes sluggish and hence More Space = Better Performance to the app.

Ah yeah. I see that... ;-)
iPad Mini 3 and iPad Mini 2: A7 chip with 64-bit architecture, A7 motion coprocessor, 1GB RAM
iPad Mini 4: A8 chip with 64-bit architecture, M8 motion coprocessor, 2GB RAM

The key changes in real world terms here are Apple boasts the Mini 4 has a 1.3x faster CPU and 1.6x faster GPU than the Mini 3 and Mini 2. In fact Apple has borrowed the chipset from the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

The good news is this should make the iPad Mini 4 fast enough for anything the App Store can throw at it. On the other hand it is a shame that Apple has not given it the latest generation A9 chipset seen in the new iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus or even the A8X chipset seen in last year’s iPad Air 2.

Minus the X. ;-)

I would agree with the consensus that of all the iPad Minis that are available, the Mini 4 would be your best bet.

If you are just going to use it as a dedicated device for the DJI App and nothing else the ipad mini 2 will do the job just fine, I bought one second hand with cellular  for a lot less just to use as a dedicated display and have had no problems with DJI GO 4 and my P4

Unless you're completely out of space, having extra, unused storage does not improve app performance.   Storage space is just that.  Space for apps/pictures etc.  Having 64gb or 1TB doesn't matter if you're only using a few gigs.  The CPU is the main factor in app performance followed by having adequate RAM (memory), not storage.

The iPad Mini 4 also has a anti glare screen that does make some difference compared to an iPad Mini 2.

I think it is better to learn and compare each of the iPad models, there are many specifications to look into. One good place is Amazon where you can check most specifications as well as what other customers say about the device.

If you want to make use of the GPS function in the iPad, then you need to buy a cellular version, the WiFi only tablets do not have GPS fitted. You do not need to have a cellular connection to fly, but you will need GPS if you use some of the advanced functions like Follow Me, setting Home Point to the position of the controller etc.

I use am iPad Mini 4 with no cellular component and it has worked well for me.  If I want to do something with the iPad and internet, I use the hot spot on my phone via Wifi.  I have used my P4 with that iPad many places without any issues, as the GPS in the P4 works fine for most things you will want to do.  That includes many far away places with zero internet or WiFi for phone as well.

There may be examples of things that work less well, but so far, those have not been an issue for me.

Hi... I'm just wondering if a new Android mini tablet would work just as well as an iPad mini?  In the meantime I plan to fly my new P4 for the first time with my iPhone 6+.  Will I be OK with that?
