Can somebody give some details how DJI X5S works with Panasonic Lumix 14-42mm/3.5-5.6 HD ?
I want to buy those lenses and I'm curious if you can zoom while you fly. Also those are parfocal lenses? Some are saying yes others no. And the most important thing: if you look on the net you will see different lenses with the same name Panasonic Lumix 14-42mm/3.5-5.6 HD. I wonder if this are the right one https://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh ... s=REG&A=details

As others have mentioned, that lens would work fine.

This entire compatible lenses thing has me thoroughly confused.  Some say certain lenses will work, some say they won't.  Then there's the whole lens balancing, with ring, without ring, with filter, without filter.  OMG!  It would be ideal if there was 1 concise table that contained all the pertinent information in regards to lenses & balancing.

Yeah it would be nice to have it all slapped down in front of you so you can just tick buy now!

Then again sometime researching can be quite therapeutic.

DJI 15mm lens weight is approx 115grams/ 4.1 oz  what you need to look for is a lens that come close to this weight. if its under weight then you might need to add a filter / balance ring. If its over weight (and obviously dependant on how much over weight it is) you need to counter weight the back of the camera and depending on that counter weight you might also have to put on a side counter weight.
Take for example the Panasonic : LUMIX G VARIO 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 II ASPH. MEGA O.I.S.  See link https://www.amazon.com/Panasonic ... eable/dp/B00B7FOVAM

This is 110 grams so only 5 grams out so maybe a lens hood/ filter? to get it spot on!

where as the Panasonic : LUMIX G VARIO 14-45mm F3.5-5.6 ASPH. MEGA O.I.S.  see link https://www.amazon.com/PANASONIC-14-45mm-F3-5-5-6-Mirrorless-H-FS014045/dp/B002IKLJV4
This is 195 grams (80 grams over weight) you would then need to counter balance with weights at the back of the camera and depending on where you placed the weight would determin how much weight to add to the side to even it all out.

One other thing to watch out for is max diameter of the lens the X5 can only take up to about 60mm the X5S can take up to about 65mm.

I do have the Olympus 14-42mm but I think I will be doing a bit more research into primes as I belive you get better quality and value in glass! which is better in the long run.

hope this get you off in the right direction and selection.

P.S. I used Panasonic as examples only (I don't like these lenses) but each to their own.

Karl

Thanks, wasn't quite expecting all that.  Also note that I've been doing research on lenses & balancing, but just when I think I have it figured out someone posts a conflicting configuration.  Hell, I have "wishlists" on B&H and Amazon filled.

In case it wasn't clear,
there are balancing rings (and depending on the lens, counter-weights or lens hoods) available at the
DJI Store for each lenses with an * next to them.
