I only had a couple of weeks to get to grips with the Mavic before my trip to Bulgaria but took it along to get some shots of the mountains. I didn't plan to get any active tracking shots of snowboarding as I wouldn't fly over other people, particularly without much flight experience. Drones were banned in the Bansko ski area anyway, which was disappointing as I hoped to fly up at the Tadorka summit away from the ski slopes. Things were more relaxed at the smaller Bezbog resort so I was able to fly around the peak there.
I was really impressed with how the Mavic performed, managing 20-24 minutes flight times despite the sub-zero temperatures and high altitudes. I shot in Art profile -1 -3 -3 and was really pleased with how this held up to grading with Resolve. The poor data rate is really frustrating, particularly where shots end up with the watercolour look, but other shots where I felt it would struggle held up surprisingly well.
