I have the self lock 1242 dji props as well but I really like this new locking mechanism. It's really quick and easy and very snug fit. Great design to be honest

Buttoned down....
Ok I finally got this buttoned down and assembly is complete.
I used the dji pdb that came in the e800 kit as it was the easiest way to assemble the 680.
Speaking of assembly , unless I'm missing something, getting the top plate buttoned down on the tarot is a complete nightmare!...the centre arms are held in place with split collars and the fixing screws go through the top plate, the collar itself and into the bottom plate. Horrendous job trying to line all this up....so if I missed the easy way please tell me. As a result , I won't be opening this frame kit again, except to dump it and key my a2.

Roll on dji next generation of flamewheel.. The flamewheel kits are a joy compared to this tarot. Anyway, some pics to enjoy

E800 Tarot 680 Pro airbourne
Tarot 680 pro A2 E800 enters Irish Air Space

and yes, ive a huge grin on my face today. Ive maidened the E310 kit nd now the E800 kit.

the A2 motor test function works with the e800 kit for everyones info, and i strongly advise you check this pre first flight. you dont want this monster flipping over !

have to say its REALLY impressive in the air, and i can see why everyone loves the inspire, as they share the same motors and escs.
again, similar to the 310 kit, i love the external esc LEDs, although i will be removing the leds from the side motors (3& 6)

LOADS of thrust available, but i only got a hover in today due to weather and trying to fly and take pics at same time.....not easy.

love the sound of the motors / props and i ran the test uing the 13 inch stock props from the kit. Power is supplied by a multistar 6600mah 6s lipo, which was only60% charged but enough for the maiden flight.

so need to charge up my lipos and set my gains tomorrow. weather is bad and light is fading, plus its so cold. But overall its been a very enjoyable week building.

ive another e800 kit coming from the UK next week and this will be installed on my next project...a f450 with aeroxcraft extended aluminum arms. now that should be the leader of the fleet.
when all is done i will post up a fleet pic.

Thanks for your report. Sounds very promising!

At the moment I am using E600 on a Tarot 680 Pro. Do you think, the 16mm carbon arms and hinges can cope with the increased thrust (max. 2.1 kg per motor) in extreme situations?

Have you measured the current, that the motors consume, when loaded with 800g/motor or did you find any other report for that (I saw a very detailed report for the E600 (in German) here: http://fpv-community.de/showthread.php?47281

I just got some carbon and made some longer arms, now a 720ish size.

Which PDB do you use the one on the frame plate or a seperate one?

i wouldnt recommend your mod for two reasons
1. you risk chaffing on the wiring around that hole due to vibration from the motors over time
2. youve weakened the tube at a critical point, and introduced a stress line near the motor.

you may be ok if inspected before and after each flight.

Nice build!! I just started building a Tarot 650 Sport with quad E800 motors. I hope to have it flying in a couple of days. I am trying to figure out the esc mounting, I really do not want the wires sticking further out then the motor mount. What is your total weight? Thanks for posting.

how did you mount the ESC under the motor mount? It seems impossible for mine as the ESC plastic housing is way to big.

would it be okay to mount the ESC onto the body? far away from the motor?

i tried assembling my Tarot 680 Pro with the DJI E800. Firstly the E800 props are not 13" as mentioned in their spec. But a little more around 13.6".

So I'm faced with two issue for this combination.

First the ESC is too big for the motor pods. The ESC would have to extend to a farther than the pods. About an inch out.

Second, due to longer blades, the tips would hit each other.

I am really interested on how you managed to fit the E800 into the arms of the Tarot 680 Pro. I am thinking of buying  longer arms for it. Hope you could share and as well as how you mount the ESC.

BY THE WAY, how is your flight time? What battery did you use? Thanks.

Hello

How long are the servo cables?Have you used any servo extender?I ll also have a e800 setup but on a custom CNC frame about 700-720 frame size and I don t know if the cables from the esc at the tip of the arm are long enough to reach the FC on the main board.

Thanks

Great build! I also have the Tarot 680p frame, but I unfortunately bought the E600 just before the E800 came out I'm amazed at your flight times. My AUW (with Naza v2, FPV, H3-3D, GoPro Hero 3+ Black, BlueTooth, mini iOSD) is 2,315g. With my 6S 8000 mAh battery the total AUW is 3,530g. I'm getting 15 min flight time with 21% left in the tank upon landing.

What is your AUW and what other components are you using? I liked how you were able to use the longer blades of the E800 by pushing out the motor mounts a bit. I've just ordered the E800 props and will do the same.

Hi Eirlink,
I'm planning to build a Hexacopter, can you give me advise? Here is my things:
Tarot 690 frame kit
DJI E800 combo (motor and Esc and props)
Naza V2 with GPS and iOSD
Gimbal foxtech 3 axis (about 1,650g! - i'm planning to use Sony A7 on this gimbal, about 1,300g for camera and lens)
6S 8000mah lipo
With this setup, i calculate about 6500g… I don't know this E800 can carry that weight or not, and what do i need or change something? How many weight your FY680 can carry? And how long it can fly? Thanks!

How has this worked out for you?  Seems  a bit risky just pushing the motor mounts out like that.

Is there enough prop clearance?  How about the security of the motor mounting?

there is more than enough of the arm left in the motor pod after you adjust it outwards.

Eirlink,

A quick "Thank You" for posting all the photos and information about your build.  I finished mine this weekend and took it for first test flight tonight (Tarot 680 Pro + E800 + Naza V2).  I'd been flying just Phantoms for 2 years and this was my first build.  Your posts were a very useful guide to me.

After the Phantoms I'm impressed by how smooth and quiet this unit is in the air.  It is like a first generation Beetle vs a Prius.

Hi Eirlink!
I got inspired by your project and I built myself a 680pro with extended arms, e800 system, wookong m, iosd markII, 2.4Ghz GS, zenmuse h4-3d (without powering the gopro), immersion transmitter and a 6s 8000mah lipo. With everything set up I get a 10min flight time in normal conditions (20°C, no wind) and slow flight. It seems quite strange compared to your figures. Have you got any advice? Thanks!!!

Staffa,

10 minutes on an 8000 6s is very low.  I built a 680Pro E800 (also inspired by this thread) having a Naza2,  Zhiyun Tiny2 Gimbal and a GoPro3B which I flew early today on a Turnigy 6S 8000mah battery (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyki ... _50C_Lipo_Pack.html) for 24.5 minutes.  Unloaded voltage after landing is 22.3v.

More frequently I fly 14-15 minutes on Zippy Compact 3700 (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyki ... _25C_Lipo_Pack.html).  Admittedly I'm not doing very aggressive flying but it is a lot better than the kind of time you are seeing.

Do you already have some video's you made with it? (:

Speaking of videos, does anyone get good stable videos with their 680Pro + E800?

I'm having a great deal of difficulty in that area with the 680Pro I built.  I believe the 6 props are well balanced and the video seems good going vertical but any horizontal motion and I'm done for.  Suspecting prop, wash I built a shield over the gimbal and while it helped I am still not satisfied esp. as my old Phantom2 beats it handily any day.  Today I tried moving the gimbal so that it sits more beneath the center plates, will try that if I get some time this weekend.

Hello Eirlink
i saw your nice build
Even if u made DIY modificatoin, E800 system is fit for Tarot 690S frame. FY680 pro arm is slightly short for E800 system prop size.
I also made build for FY680 pro using T-motor 2216-9 1100kv & 10 inch prop.

E800 system is used in Tarot T810 frame. E800 performance seem to be very good.
