I was out today as my son says giving it all. was very impressed with how fast the I2 can go if you push it hard. I wanted to see just how fast this will fly before the restriction are added.

Mine is 69mph.

I accept the challenge i will wait until the next windy day and try to copy

On a side note. When the I2 is in top speed with the camera gimbal fitted reports the error at almost every turn when you change direction in fact you cant see the sky anymore and only the FPV camera is still giving a view of where your flying. The reason i mention this is if your chasing a car / bike and filming at these speeds you cant  be directly behind and need some height to still keep it in the frame.

I have been asked to make a short advert film of a new Chinese full hybrid sports car and the speed test I did was to see what are the maximums i can expect. The 80mph speeds have been agreed with the customer and i can hit that almost as fast as the sports car.

Just waiting for a nice sunny day as its been raining most days last weeks.

My speed was from going upwind and fighting It hard and then flying like a bat out of Hell when I turned  and came back downwind  .  No downward inclination at all .

That was crazy fast and it would have gone faster but I thought , this is NUTS and backed off . It did look very cool though whizzing by about 150 feet off the deck ! I have honestly only done this once , I had no idea the winds were that strong that day ......good times .

Ok folks, well I haven't flown my little girl since last week in VT.  Today I upgraded her with all of the latest stuff, calibrated the compass and took her out.  She seems wobbly and bouncing for some reason.  I may have to calibrate the compass again.  But I took her around and she didn't seem as stable as she used to be.  Also the top speed seemed to significantly diminish and I topped out (was a tad windy) at around 80KM/h.  My previous top with a little tail was 110.  Only took her out once, I hope to take her out again.  I just finished calibrating the IMU.  Any feedback would be nice.

I can see we are not comparing like for like. Mine was done on an Inspire 2 with camera... but some are from Inspire 1 with wind assistance.

Maybe we should define some ground rules to compare apple with apple?

It was a bit scary was it was still picking up speed, I am not going to do that again .......and getting it home in that wind was lets say ....Interesting to say the least .

It really gets downwind in a hurry with that type of wind, (It did not seem that bad at ground level )

You could have  an  Inspire 1 record and an  Inspire 2 record .

You could also have it with and without tail wind . Or wind speeds below 5MPH  to indicate ,little or no wind and over 5 Mph to 25 MPH to indicate wind.

I swear when I did mine  (90mph + )  it was a bit  windy but at altitude it must have been MUCH windier (But must have been 25 MPH wind in hindsight  )

As this is the Inspire 2 then clearly Donnie should be illiminated (or exterminated) which ever i'm not sure..lol

Today i went out to try the new firmware ensure all is okay for my filming the new car on Sunday. No mater how hard i hit the stick in Sports mode I cant get her faster than 50 mph (80 kph) WEB SITE SAYS 58MPH but i was geeting much more.

I noticed the tilt angle has changed as before if i pushed her hard the error message "end of gimbal track" doesn't appear anymore. I didn't notice the change as listed in the release notes.

yes winds aloft account for many things that drone pilots have happen    It is normal to not think about how the winds change once you get up a few hundred feet.

Hi Jon

This is disappointing news !! I hope you get to try again and see if you can get some more speed.  I wonder if we can get DJI to comment on this subject?  They dropped the speed on the Inspire 1 also with FW early on....  I was counting on the extra speed of the Inspire 2
