Can I still fly without doing the update since there seems to be a few problems with it? and will this cause any problems? Also what otehr problems are you having?

I just flew my p4p without updating the firmware. You don't have to update and there is nothing to force you to do so. I will wait a few days before updating mine.

Good to know. Not sure I want to update since Ive read a few problems about it. Ill wait as well. thanks

No, you are not required to install any firmware update and, occasionally, there are new problems introduced with new firmware. So, especially as a beginner, it is not a bad strategy to wait several days to a couple weeks after a new firmware is introduced until more experienced pilot have installed the firmware, thoroughly tested it, and reported back to the group via these forums.
