With about 50% of my flights I'm getting random App disconnects. I use both the iPhone 7 Plus and a Google Pixel.
The only way I can get the video back is to unplug the phone from the side of the controller and plug it back in again during the flight. Seems to work every time.

Ahh thanks so much for.  Last time I used after firmware upgrade mine was doing the same.  can't wait to find out if this also works for me.  Ideally though would be best not to happen of course

Have you tried to use the USB port on the bottom of the controller?

Yes I have and it makes no difference whatsoever

I had issues with my Google Pixel XL and disconnections. I think if I had made sure no other apps were running and used it in airplane mode it may have worked ok. I may test it at some stage but my Mavic is in for a repair at the moment so it could be some time before I get it back.
I just ended up getting a dedicated ipad mini 4, got rid of all the useless apps and have never had a problem. Also love the bigger screen.
