I put up on youtube my argtek test video for myself for my P3S doing near 4km distance.  Near 13000 feet.

Within 20 minutes I get argtek asking can they put it on their main youtube page. Wicked.

You're lucky .... in many countries if that happened - you'd immediately fall foul of Drone Rules !! It would be deemed to be commercial. Doesn't matter if you are paid or not.

But ... Wey Hey .... Go for it !!

Obviously my 2.4km wasn't good enough for them !!

As you go up in freg .... directional and distance becomes more critical.

I heard about this on the radio the other day and finally got a chance to research it today. I live just outside the Toronto area. I have worked in Toronto for many years so I know the area well. I am sure there isn't too many happy people right now. Being 75 meters from buildings, people, cars and pets is completely IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!  It is going to be hard enough for myself to find somewhere to fly and stay legal. Heck, 1 minute from my house and you start getting into the country so now I have to fly on someone's private land???? Can't fly in any park, can't truss pass on someone's field. I am so glad I didn't spend thousands on my drone (got the P3S) and didn't spend on the antenna upgrade kit to get more range (Been researching it). Also researching letchi to get more range and features, saved $30 bucks there too.

I did order a back pack for my drone on ebay as my family thought it would be a good idea to take it on bike rides and fly in various locations, can't do that, other people might be close by. Oh by the way, I have to be 75 meters from people, does that include or exclude me? My family? Or just other people I don't know?

I guess the sayings Canadians living under too many laws are true.

Love to hear more from local people and your thoughts.

Good thing it is hard to measure from someone's house to my drone because it will never stand up in court without proof!

I had 35% at the end of the 8km flight so went out for another 1km plus and landed with 24% battery

That's really good, have you seen the video of the 5.8km flight with argtek antenna's, probably could have make 6km if he pushed it.

If I get a really clear day with great weather I might see. But 4km is enough for me. Thing is that lets say I do 6km I still need enough power to return. I prefer to end my flights with over 20% power remaining. I have had drones return with near 20% then let them hover at around 1m to drain the battery to 10%.  But that was only one time.

I believe someone did a longer flight but also had power boosters and the Argtek.

Yes 4km would be far enough for me as well, this person stopped at 5.8km because the return to home kicked in but it was just the first warning that he could have cancelled if he wanted to go 6km and still make it back home with less juice in the tank. They certainly are a good antenna.

I really bought it so that I can do flights distance of about 1.5 to 2.5km.  I really do not need any more.
However as I am often flying up through clouds the extra signal is certainly necessary. I've had some flights where I needed 400m to clear the cloud base around 10000 ft altitude.

Have ever been in a situation where there has been some trees between you and the drone and if so did the antenna's improve the signal.

I did one short flight on a road going thru the forest.  All I did was follow the road no more than 100m away from drone.  It's just too hard to determine how close some tree branches come out especially the really thin ones.  I did go straight up to get a shot over the forest looking down the mountain.  So I did not fly it really very far.

I have flown on one flight past a mountain slope and kept signal.  But it was at distance.   Personnaly I like to stay clear of the trees and leave them at least 100 feet below where I pass over them if I have to.

I have a thin band of trees about 35m high that sometimes get between my drone and I when it's about 600m away that can cause signal loss, just wondering if the argtek antenni would help. I'm thinking it will help but not totally.

Sure would help but then again you might want to fly a bit higher if possible.

My drone has been leaving vapour trails as she screams across the sky at low level.
