Hello,
Could you please advise what kind of PC Graphic card do I need, to play 30 FPS 4k P4 pro video (h.264) ?

With my onboard Graphic card, i Can play 2,7k or full hd at 30 FPS (of p3 advanced -) for 60 FPS i must play at 50% of the speed but it s OK for me.

I ve seen a geforce gtx750 TI - does someone has this kind of Graphic chipset ?

Thx
Eric
PS : don t want to buy a Mac ;)

I have an I7-6700k / 16 GB / GTX-1070 and was still getting slow 4K palyback, but I tried this free viewer (no, this is not a spam link!) and it worked great.

thanks for the advise.
My computer is on Linux, so I'm not able to install "
media Player Classic". (vlc is ok by the way).

I had a GeForce 980 that did a good job but upgraded to the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 in hopes of better rendering speeds from my NLE. It didn't help on the rendering but does a great job displaying 4K videos on my 43" Dell 4K monitor. I prefer the NVIDIA platform and, if you've got the budget for it, the 1080 is a great card.

I've bought a gtx 750 TI, which is available in "single slot" (great for my tiny pc), I will keep you informed if it s ok. For now, I convert the 4K to Full HD (using ffmpeg and "scale" option), so I'm able to read it on my laptop. Maybe I will continue to convert to the video, for my customers who haven't a huge PC.
I will try to upload video on youtube, to comparethe rendering.

The free VLC Payer can take advantage of certain video cards to accelerate the video display process. But don't forget you need to have a monitor that can display 4k as well. I have a Radeon RX480, and it works brilliantly.

I've tried my new geforce gtx 750 i, with my Intel I3
I've tested VLC - there are plenty of lags and "green" images.(my cpu is at 100%) and some glitch. Even if hardwar acceleration is on
I've tested Totem Video (I'm on linux), there are no green images, but s it s too laggy (my cpu is at 100%)

Hmm, an i3 processor is probably too waek to do the job. I use an i& 6 core one, and it is also flat out with 4K.

I have i7 6700K, GTX 1070 8GB and 32GB ram on Win 10 64bit. 4K 60fps plays in realtime in VLC with both mov and mp4 files. Also realtime in edit and color with both mov and mp4.

That's interesting - I have the same specs besides the graphic card. I only have Intel HD Graphics 530.

Is that the card you have? I ordered it yesterday:
http://www.tomshardware.com/revi ... roundup,4751-5.html
Did you try codec h.265? Any problems playing videos compressed that way?

This might be interesting for some:
A need site for downloading files to check what the graphic card is capable of:

It could also be the mother board and many other things. I know about person that has the same motherboard, the same CPU, same Graphic card and same amount of memory as I but is not getting real time with p4p  4k 60 fps files for some reason.    Like I say, it may be many other things which can reduce the performance of the computer. Also I have done much of Tweaking on all my editing stations and shut down all unnecessary services that do not need to be running and change lot of settings in Windows to get better performance of my systems.
P.s. Do not use some apps to do this! Those apps only make things worse.      Do it your self if you know how to or have someone who know how to do it for you.  You will only make your system worse if you do something wrong!
And not all programs uses the GPU memory.      I have this one:

Be sure you are running adequate cooling for these higher end CPUs/GPUs/cards. If you experience crashes or bad performance, the issue could be as simple as the CPU/GPU overheating (core temps can go up super fast and super easily). I had a system that wouldn't run for more than a couple minutes due to an improperly seated CPU. After cleaning and reapplying thermal paste, then remounting the CPU, the system ran like a champ.

Good point.  Make sure that your PC case has good airflow.

My opinion, depends on how much money you want to spend. My little HP SFF with i5 and Ge Force 1050 i works great and displays 4k 60 fps perfectly smooth on a 85" 4k Samsung. I spent less than $150 total for the computer and video card with a 250gb SSD. All the bang for little bucks !
I Bought 2 of the same computers, one on the 85" Samsung and one on a 60" LG, both 4k TV's . Works great for my use !

But I don't do gaming so they probably wouldn't do good on that. Just my 2 cents !
