Hello people!

I'm thinking about buying an ipad for my mavic, but I'm in the doubt between model. I have seen a lot of people saying well of the ipad mini 4, but it is a bit expensive me, does anyone have a mini ipad 2 that can give feedback?

And what they advise me to buy, the differences between models in Dji Go are many?

Thanks

Did you notice that Apple dropped the price $100 on the Mini 4 this week?

The iPad Mini 2 has been discontinued by Apple. The iPad 4 have a faster processor and touch ID. That comes handy because DJI Go4 uses a lot of processing and is more possible to crash in mini2

The processing power of the iPad mini 4 makes it ideal for the Mavic.

I use a mini 2 with the GO 4 for my Phantom 4 without any issues. Before the GO 4 I used the same iPad mini 2 with the GO (v2.9.1) - also without any issues.
The processing speed of the mini 2 is fast enough, also for third party apps like Litchi.
But to be future proof, go with the mini 4, as it has the better processor. Trying to save money now, will cost you more in the future. I'm sure that the day will come, when the mini 2 isn't fast enough any more.

I use a Wi-Fi-only, 32 GB, iPad Mini 2 running latest version DJI GO 4 and latest Mavic firmware with zero problems. Nada. Everything performs flawlessly.

Thanks for all answers!! I have seen many prices for ipad mini 2 and mini 4, and the prices are many different!

What is the best purchase? Ipad mini 2 with 4G or Ipad mini 4 wi-fi only?

I know that i have a ipad without 4g the RTH and Follow me does't work

Wait..... I'm stupid but how a non-4G, WiFi only iPad could work? You don't need GPS signals from it? The signals are from the remote controller?

Don't know the answer to that. I always have accurate home-point recordings which I always verify on the map before take-off. I've never questioned it before - there have never been any issues to put it into question. My Mini 2 is the only device I've ever used. I don't even use my iPhone 6S because I love the larger screen of the iPad Mini. Maybe the controller does contain a GPS chipset(?).

The mavic has the gps and records they home point which is sent to the iPad. I use the iPad mini 2 wifi version and most times am not near my wifi at home.

Ah, of course, yes. Also, referencing my comment above, I forgot there is one thing that does not work on my WiFi-only iPad setup: Follow Me mode. That makes sense since the iPad doesn't know where itself is located and therefore can't pass that data to the Mavic.

Yes, the question is that!!!
And if you need to change the RTH point, the Dji Go doesn't know your location.

So you cache the map using wifi/hotspot pre-takeoff?

Yes, and make sure to scroll the map to your future fly location at the correct magnification.
