I'm curious how they'd get that tree/branch out of the hole if it did fall in there.

We have a lake close by that has the same thing-nice video, and close up of the hole.  I laugh every time I hear the name too, as my wife's aunt is named Glory.

OK I gotta ask... How nervous or paranoid are people flying their mavic's over water of something going horribly wrong with the unit itself?  Ever since I watched that video posted on here a little while ago of the mavic force landing over and into a swamp I've been pretty nervous about flying it over water... Is that a pretty rare occurrence?  Should I be that nervous if im flying cautiously?  I managed to snag a quick 38 second clip over the Fraser Canyon a couple hours outside Vancouver BC... I wanted to go a little further and do a little more but was scared this river would be eating up my $1400 drone!

Wonderful footage........just curious.......did you notice any rough air or anything from the force of the water falling underneath?

Another point.......I am 100% NOPE about those things. Those and the grills at the bottom of swimming pools :X

No suction right now the water just became high enough to go over the spill way. But I'm guessing as the run off starts coming in and the water rises there might be some suction if it gets higher over the hole. I might take another trip out in a month to see how it has changed.

Its totally fine to fly over water just make sure of all your pre flight stuff Mavic and controller are up to date on the firmware and all your calibrations are free of issues and obviously batteries are full and you should have no problem. Had mine out over the pacific ocean watching whales two miles out. Not one problem other then the whales kept going under as soon as I would try to lower my elevation to get a better view of them. Good luck.

First off great footage and confidence to fly over the hole!

Do you have a sense as to how wide is the diameter of the hole?  Could you film (with a second Mavic or other camera) at a horizontal as the first Mavic drops below the waterline?  Basically one Mavic hovering below water line in the hole and the other holding steady a little above the water line.  I thought for sure when the video started that was where you were heading with the shot.

Great work!  Make more!

Yea you could probably do that if you were close to the hole. I was over on the dam so didn't want to take a chance. Not worth losing my bird. Hole is probably 25 to 30ft across. I would be afraid of getting it splashed on below the hole.  Lots of people there yesterday so didn't want to annoy anyone to much. There has not been any water over the spill way in several years and it was a long hard winter for this area so everyone is looking for things to do in the lower elevations because the mountains still have way to much snow to go camping or anything. Can't wait to get into the mountains and fly some forest service lookouts!  Thanks for watching.

Nope flew completely normal nothing turned off. Had full GPS. Or I would not have flown. Not worth taking a change on losing it or it falling and hurting someone.
