Hi Guys!
Just got my mavic out of the box, did the latest firmware update, did my calibration properly, started it up, i just let it fly hover position, and then an error message appears on my remote saying "Ultrasound module error problem".... Looked forums online, I just can't conceive that thing is brand new, and it's broken already. Did you guys had the same problem after downloading the latest firmware, or Am I really gonna have to send that thing back for repair..? please help. Not a good start at all with DJI.

I would send it back for return or replacement, not repair. If you send it back for repair your in for a months wait and a chance of getting another malfunctioning unit back. Something I would not want after spending 1k+ on a brand new product. Even if you send it back for replacement your still probably going to wait 2 or 3 weeks at BEST.

I would to run firmware update again (it calls REFRESH in DJI Assistant) to see if it was firmware issue.
If you still get error message after that, I would return it for refund, then buying a new one.

calibrated the IMU and the compass as I got told it's usually the first thing you need to do.

No it's not , first thing you need to do is read the Manual and if you did you would have read on page 52 not to calibrate unless prompted.
It's not going to kill your AC but if you have already done it you need to make sure you done it correctly, and once you have done it correctly, there is no need to calibrate until prompted.

You have two weeks to exchange it for a new one once you receive it so no repair if this problem can't be fixed by a firmware refresh. Just contact tech support for RMA.

If you are flying indoors over carpet it will give an error along with other sound absorbing materials
Try flying in a hover out side and see if it happens

It is advised to calibrate compass every time though.... IMU only if prompted....

Exact same thing happened to me after I upgraded from .300 to .400 within the first couple days of ownership.  I took it outside, flew in beginners mode and then brought it back into the house and let it hover over my carpet.  Error was gone.

Good Luck.

Nowhere ! In my now almost 80 hours of flight time with my MP I was prompted to calibrate compass only ONCE when I tried to T/O from the roof of my car (steel).

I never ever calibrated anything else on my MP and it flies like a dream. The ONLY problem I CONSTANTLY have is the permanent crash of DJI GO4 on my Android which is ON THE LIST of DJI {:4_154:}

He can reset to default in assistant. I know at least with mine, it resets the compass back to factory. The imu, not sure but I wouldn't doubt it.

Thought after upgrading, it was standard practice to calibrate. I would do it, I mean it's not going to hurt to have a good calibration. If you look around youtube, guys claim that fixed problems where there was a bad calibration from the factory during the rushed mavics.

Many more bad calibrations carried out when no need to do them, it's a case of if it ain't broke don't try fixing it..

Id suggest to actually read the manual, so you know what and what not to do. This could save you especially if something happens mid flight.
