hard to say. I actually sold my inspire 2.

I only film for fun and the $5k for the i2 was making me feel back when i wasn't getting out every day to film.

The inspire 2 flying and footage is def a big step up, but when i only post on instagram and youtube the mavic is fine.

For travel the mavic is much easier to transport etc...

Really it comes down to what you plan on doing with the footage

Any tips and tricks on shooting from the boat ? I bought a phantom 4 over the winter and we dropped in our G23 this weekend. Cant wait to start filming, just a bit scared about flying behind the boat at wakeboard speed. Does the mavic also have the sport and normal settings ?

I am doing the same thing, I just bought a Malibu 23 LSV and the Mavic Pro to film some wakeboarding, but am super nervous about it. #1 I need to teach someone else how to fly it with confidence so they can film me wakeboarding, #2 the place I boat, the only landing place will be the back of the boat. This isn't super challenging, but I need to improve my flying skills.

Also, what suggestions do you have to get started with video editing?

flying behind a wakeboarder with the p4p or mavic, the drone will need to be in sport mode, or you will be left in the dust. Wakesurfing you can do gps mode and be fine. With the p4p you can easily hand catch, and same with the mavic just be a bit more careful. Landing the mavic on the rear deck is pretty easy because of its size.

Most important thing is communicated that the drone wins, over most things (aka when ur low on battery, stop the boat and land, dont worry if the rider has to take a 5mins pause and sink in the water =) ).

As for editing... imovie is a good starting place.... premiere pro and final cut for more advance.
