Ordered my Mavic through the DJI website on a Thursday, it was shipped out on Monday and in my hands Thursday--not bad.  Working on getting aclimated to using the controls and adjusting settings.  Purley a recreational pursuit on my part.  We have lots of trees on our property so practicing at home requires care and patience.  I am working on setting up the controls t smooth out the video.  I need to slow down the camera up/down a bit more.  I am editing on a late 2011 Macbook Pro (quad I7, 16GB ram, SSD drive) in iMovie.  4K editing was a problem, but dropping the camera to 2.7K has it working just fine.  I still have lots of practicing to do, but the Mavic handles well.

For a new beginner I think you have done well. There are a lot of tips for settings to get smoother panning but the thing that works for me is to watch the screen while I am panning. That way I can instantly see if I am panning too fast. Even in your landscape with lots of obstacles, it can be done safely as the Mavic should hover in place while you pan so you can take your eyes off the drone to check the pan.
Well done.

It's Anchorage Alaska, and while fire is always a concern, we tend to get regular precipitation so the fire danger is low--while frozen and snow covered currently, there is a creek running through my backyard.

Got the drone up to 250 feet today (gaining confidence).  The image from the camera on the iPhone did stutter occasionally once the drone was over 180 feet.  This is also the first flight I used a ND filter.

Get out this weekend, weather is supposed to improve for light. Be careful of Class C airspace in Anchorage.
