I must be missing something here. I checked my version on the P3S and it says "Version 1.8.10". It appears that a new version is on the DJI website (dropped yesterday?) that is lower in number. Does anyone know what is going on?

Seen that my self & being new to this i havent got a clue ! but they do say that if a firmware update is available it will come up when the drone and controller is switched on.... I updated the app this morning but that's about all. Im on the same version as you state above 1.8.10. Im sure it would let you know before you flew it that the firmware needs to be updated.

Does the app let you know when to update the drone?  Where in the app should I look?  BTW, I have the P3 4K, where should I look for those firmware updates?

When you turn everything on, the upgrade reminder will be on your app up top on your device, (cell phone, iPad, etc.). It might be in red or yellow print. If you don't see it, you don't need it.

just got p3s update failed cant use drone on app here is what text file says
Packet: P3C_FW_V01.06.0080.bin
Result: Failed.
Reboot the aircraft and try to upgrade the firmware again

can anyone help me please

WTH?  I just flew mine an hour ago and in never said anything about firmware upgrade needed. Guess I need to turn it on again and look at it.

just checked mine (P3S), and the app version is 3.1.6 (iOS), and the firmware version is 1.8.10.  I had no firmware upgrade message and I checked app store and I have the latest iOS app version.

Apparently it is too much bother for DJI to explain why the newest firmware offered has a lower number than the one previously offered. Likewise, too much like effort to keep their webpage information on the P3S up to date. It still says app for iOS is 3.1.5 ( it is 3.1.6 and has been for a while) and Android says 3.1.4 although it is now 3.1.5
No one from DJI has commented about this confusing new firmware. Bad!

Just to be clear (as you haven't used any punctuation) Do you mean:

Just got a P3S. The update failed. (Which update, what is the firmware number?)

Is this the firmware packet that you are trying to update to, or is this the firmware which was already installed in your P3S when you got it?
Are you being offered Phantom 3 Standard Firmware v01.07.0800? Is this the firmware which is failing to install?

I'm being told by a DJI support person right now that there is no way to downgrade a Phantom 3 Standard.  He had me uninstall and reinstall the DJI Go app, which did nothing then he threw up his hands and asked me to return the drone for service.  This is unacceptable.  Even if they pay the shipping.   Why don't they have a solution?  When will a future firmware with a higher version be released?  You would think you could just rename the firmware file to a later version just to get it to install, but I'm not going to try that without being told to.

The firmware can be put on the memory card, but it will not install it, due to it being an older version:

Having bought a Phantom 3 Standard the other day i cant even use it the new App crashes each time i upload, does anyone know how to solve this?

A lot of post on another forum saying the new app doesn't work w/iPhone/Pad.  Use a previous version to see if it will work.

OMFG Trying to talk to there tech help on the online chat They havent got a clue They need training.
The firmware that was released 4 days ago isnt right, The app will tell us when theres a update...
