If you wonder, when to  get google maps and when to here maps I found a solution for P3S:
go was forced to stop

switch on RC and AC
conect smartphone to wifi of RC
start go
you get google map

switch on RC and AC
start go
conect smartphone to wifi of RC
you get here map

Do they toggle back and forth just by switching the RC and AC off and on again?

It is the sequence of switching on as I describes above.
If you have running the go app in background all the time, the you get alway here maps. If you want to get google, then force go to stop. Then switch on RC and AC and connect smartphone to wifi of RC.
Now start go again.
