Looks like the hawk is just hovering in one spot mid way in the video. You notice the ground is not passing by....is this for real?

Is Real. I watched many hawks "standing"(hover) in the air as they have been nailed to a inviible tree. This hawk was hunting and the Mavic was not disturbing him(her).

Do you have any idea how lucky you are? Or! is that a trained hawk? I have to ask as I am shocked your drone was not attacked.

Amazing footage.

I'd be willing to bet that there was a wind blowing straight into the hills, causing an updraft.  I used to fly RC sailplanes and would do the same thing.

First this was a fantastic shot and thanks for sharing. I noticed that the Red tail Hawk likes the sound of the Quad copter for some reason. Every time  I go up and there is a hawk around they tend to circle near by which makes me nervous. I wouldn't want to hit one by accident which is not good for either of us.

I assume from the topography the hawk is using ridge lift thereby staying near motionless. Great shot!

Nice one - very jealous.  You can see by the layout of the land and water, it's just riding the thermals.
The farmer was ploughing the field next to me a couple weeks ago to put his sunflower seeds in.  I saw three red-tail kites and was just about to send my bird up - then there was twenty odd flying around by the time I was ready and about thirty in the end.  Thought better of it - too risky.  Where do they all come from?

Nice. I was up only 3-4m and I saw a hawk like 40 meters up circling over my property. I know he saw my drone and was considering to dive for it. Lol.

That was awesome. It was cool seeing all the wing and tail movement it had to make just to stay still. it must have been pretty hungry for it to not care about you flying that close.
