I fried my battery today, I managed to land in the drink for 3 seconds. $170 for a battery is just to much money.

I don't understand the logic. You have a $1,500 P4P but can't afford one battery?

By the way if you landed your phantom in the water you should take it to repair asap

I'm sorry to hear. I'm assuming the whole unit was submerged? Did the incident occur due to a possible malfunction of the aircraft, or was it an unfortunate accident?

Buy a used battery if you cannot afford new. The other option is to use the P4 battery, which is cheaper, alabeit less amp/hours

If you you think 170 is expensive ponder what Australians pay in a smaller market, new P4P batteries are USD 217 here. I just bought a P4Pro, 2x extra batteries and charging hub, retail pricing on this kit is USD 2500 here.

Yup. That's the route I would go. The slightly lower capacity has not mattered one bit for me.

His logic is likely that the $1500 he paid was already stretching his budget. So investing another $170 so soon is a bit too much. Some people have to save up for extended periods of time to get a $1500 purchase. I've been there too, so I can empathize.

Totally my fault. I was over confident and I tried to take off from a very precarious spot and it instantly  fell in the water.
Eventually I will get a new battery. Hopefully my drone isn't ruined, it was clean fresh water and I dried it off and put it in a box with hot air flowing through it.

Yup. I was budgeted for the less expensive P4 but couldn't resist getting the pricier P4P+ with the better camera. I will save up and get it flying again.

I am back to flying my P4P!  Best Buy has a sale for the P4 battery for $118 so I bought it. My AC suffered no ill effects from its bath. Welp that didn't take long.

Wow 6 years already. I think my P4P+ will be grounded come the end of August. I may get one of the minis as to not have to get so involved with the FAA.

Why do you plan on grounding the P4P?  Because of the extra money you would have to spend for a module?  It still is a great drone, and closer we get to September the modules for remote ID will come down in price as more hit the market.

I was thinking the transmitter would be expensive and cumbersome stuck on the outside somewhere, and cut down on flight time. I will see what the ID transmitters evolve into before I ground my P4P+. It has been extremely reliable.

Yeah, I love the P4P it by far has been my favorite drone of all my drones.  Unfortunately I may be retiring it if I can't find a good way of attaching a RID module to it either.  I picked up a Air2s with RID in it to take over.

Same here. I use 1 P4P and 1 P4 battery. Never been an issue.
