Glitchy Footage?

Uploading and Loding Picture ...(0/1)

I guess I'm just looking for advice to help get a better picture.  I notice lots of flickering, or glitching but don't know how to correct it.

I shot in d-log (0, -3, -3) with a ND16 filter and 1/60 shutter speed.  White balance set on sunny. I applied a LUT and exported the project with Final Cut Pro X using the settings in the attachment below.  Any help?

Can you be more explicit in what you are seeing? I watched about  half-way through and it was looking pretty good to me. There are some compression artifacts that might be due to YouTube downsampling, but I didn't notice any obvious glitches.

Yeah artifacts was the word I was looking for. I only noticed it after someone had mentioned it in another thread.  They said it might be the way I exported the footage.  After watching the footage on Youtube, then my local file, I do see more artifacts on Youtube. Is there anything I can do to prevent that?

I'm no expert, but I think you might be better off uploading H264 at a target bitrate of at least what the Mavic captures at. Here's YouTube's recs: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/1722171?hl=en
That said, not sure it'll really help that much unless your uploaded source bitrate was lower than 40mbps.

Thank-you for pointing me in the right direction.  I exported as per your recommendation and here is the result.  Hopefully it's not the placebo effect, but I think it looks better. What are your thoughts?  It's also interesting to note that the first video was about 25GB and this one was just under 3GB.

Yeah, I can't really tell either, maybe? They both look pretty good on my iMac. I bet you can still tell a significant difference in your master video compared to what's delivered by YouTube, but that's really to be expected.

The first video is using a codec that's meant for production use and is going to have a higher bitrate, making for a much larger video file. At the very least you are saving a ton of bandwidth/upload time!

I think that's a different subject, well covered in that video, though I think it's also just general low light and underexposure scenarios that can cause the watercolor effect. Really of interest to me is the noise reduction tool he is using to tame that brittle, over sharpened  footage resulting from his blanket +1 sharpening recommendation.

Could be, but last third of his canyon vid I saw some of the effects of 0 sharpness that this vid talks about.  Maybe it helps, maybe not.

Yes, if you figure out the noise reduction he is using, let me know.  I am also interested.

This one is definitely better as the glitches that I called them (artifacts) seem to have gone. The only thing I see now is that there are very brief pauses from time to time.
