Sorry to see the big crack, since you got a replacement from the reseller, they will help you send it back to DJI for a further evaluation.

That is incredible, I assume there was nothing visible when you unpacked it but there was obviously some stress that need to be released.

No, nothing visible at all when it was unpacked.

I know the internet is littered with stress cracks on all phantom ranges.

I just think DJI should come forward and admit it's a problem.

I mean this drone is £1000 which I had to save hard for and it's 3 days old.

I understand that DJI would need to elvaluate each pahntom individually but I'm guessing they have seen thousands of these cracks so must know what the problem is and at the least give us some idea of how to avoid it.

Yes there are a few around but the majority of them are P3s and most of the P4s have at least been flown for a while before a weakness in the shell has let go from flight stresses.

Yours must have had a misshapen shell that was stressed at assembly to let go as quickly as that. At least you don't have to wait for your AC to return from DJI.

Very true.

You see how quickly they get quite when you mentioned "DJI should"?? I just got mine back two weeks ago from having the covers replaced because of cracks and now two weeks later and it has about 4-5 more cracks in it again!!

Is that a crack?

It looks more like two parts of the shell separating. I do not have a P4 to look at to see if that is where two sections meet.

They seem to crack a lot at that exact point. I noticed one in my P4 today: https://forum.dji.com/thread-96145-1-1.html

Here is another user with the same problem: https://forum.dji.com/thread-94258-1-1.html

Never been in there but wondering if they use some non-plastic approved thread locking glue on the motor attaching screws?  The normal Loctite is known to craze and crack plastic in time.  I found that out on  a motorcycle windshield that snapped off at the mounting holes that had the blue stuff on the screws.  New shield said to not use Loctite when mounting.

Could be over tightening too at factory and stress failure.  Should have a metal backing/mounting plate maybe instead of the plastic housing to carry the load.

Let me join the club of stress cracks. I've sent mine back for repair as gimbal was acting up and tilting excessively.

The P2 series didn't really have these problems.  I suspect it's the hard braking in the P3s and P4s that does it.  Maybe gentler flying would help.
