Having unpacked my brand new P4P I have hit a major snag post firmware updates.
  Currently I have used DJI Assistant 2, to rest the drone to factory settings and then to the latest firmware.
  However, when attempting to do this to the controller, the program states that it is Restoring Factory Defaults but nothing happens.
  When turning on the controller the left light is pink.  It will not connect to the drone.  
  I believe that the firmware in the controller is corrupt.

Any help is welcomed.

I think you need to relink the drone to the controller, there is a thread here for it that you can search for,  and there is a section in the P4P manual on how to relink the drone and controller

Hi Spike, no I've tried to relink but it will not connect.

There are several ways to do it. I would advise you search this forum for " relink RC and P4P" there is always more than one way to skin a cat

It seems the issue is caused by inconsistent firmware for aircraft and remote.
When connecting the remote to you mobile device and run DJI GO 4, do you get an notification to upgrade it?

I'm sure you are right.  I believe the firmware in the RC is corrupt but I cannot restore it to factory settings or reinstall it.
I have no messages to upgrade it either.

I've now been told by DJI to return directly to them.
So I now await the details and hopefully news on its replacement.
