you’ll also see a lone sea-stack standing close to the edge of the cliffs. This sea-stack is called Dún Briste (broken fort). Local legend says that when a pagan chieftain refused to convert to Christianity, St Patrick struck the ground with his crozier, splitting a chunk of the headland off into the ocean, with the chieftain on top! The sea stack is beautiful to behold because you can see the layers upon layers of multi-coloured rock strata.

Truly a photogenic island. We spent a few weeks there last year and loved the countryside, history and people. Unfortunately, no drone at that time.

The local god-bothers are still trying that around here. I am forever sticking back random chunks of coastline with super-glue.

The way we see it now is, religion won't save us, but tourism might.

It was lookout post 64 you may have seen small lookout building at the beginning of video it was used in the Second World War.

The marking "EIRE 64" EIRE IS IRISH FOR IRELAND as clearly seen  in the image was an indication to American aircraft that they had reached Neutral Ireland having crossed the Atlantic Ocean.

Dun Briste, (in English 'The Broken Fort'), is a sea stack close to the edge of the cliffs, which is 63 metres by 23 metres, 45 metres high and 228 metres from shore. In 1393 it was separated from the coast as a result of high seas and violent stormy weather. Old annuals said people who lived there were taken off using ships ropes.

Thanks for that.

Having had a lot to do with Ireland I was aware of the name. I have sometimes used it on post. Just did not know the significance of the 64. It is also not visible on Google Maps which is strange, maybe it is the angle of the light at the time changes it's visability.
