Hi,

my flightprofile in DJI Go (Android) shows an unrealistic value for "Top Altitude"! It says that I had a flight above 4500m (!METER not FEET!) on May 1st 2017. But thats definetly wrong! Never went above 100m with the highest take-off point at around 800m (above sea-level) - so, in my understanding the Top Altitude should be somewhat under 1000m.

I have checked all flight logs from 05/01/2017 but no record shows such a fly height. Or am I wrong and "Top-Altitude" is the accumulated height of all my flights?

Is there anything I can do? Or can DJI fix this manually?

I have tried to reinstall the App and re-sync all flightlogs - but didn't change anything. I definetly dont't take off with less than 12-14 satellites, so the GPS was accurate on every flight I ever made!

Best regards,
patman89

No, you aren't wrong: the top altitude is just that (the maximum) and not a cumulative value.

I've occasionally seen threads like this one where other people reported the same thing. It's not clear how (or if) it was resolved but apparently the DJI employees can and will get someone to look into it for you.

Altitude is estimated using the Mavic's internal barometer and not GPS, so even if you fly without GPS it'll know (approximately) how high you flight.

Okay, thank you for clarify this. I have created a support-case let's see what they write.

Nope, everything is positive. Only my landing height of a very short flight was "-0m".

Something else is incorrect. My total flight distance is 37,935m according to the app. The Forum shows 39,958m

No. Think I have seen through what is going wrong. The only people who can correct the error are DJI's programmers.

The one flight is also enough with the negative takeoff height. Is almost sure that's the number -0m in the log makes the error.

Even if this is the landing point? What if I start on a higher altitude and land on a lower altitude - e.g. while hiking downwards? This might always cause problems...

I do not know when I'm not tried and fly that way. But you can be sure your takeoff height should be +0.000000 meters as it is the reference for your flight altitude both in positive and negative directions.

Now, DJI Support claims that this is because I am using a mobile device which is not on the supported devices list :-(

I can not believe! The value is caluclated on their servers, not on my phone or am I wrong?

Thanks to Landbo I have figured out what has happend and what is wrong. I am able to reproduce this phenomenon and this time I have used an iPhone 6S (DJI GO 4.0.8) to synchronize my flight-records, so you can not say it is an incompatible phone!

Following steps are neccessary:

  • Turn on the drone.
  • Wait for initialization.
  • Move the drone a little bit around and place it on the ground again.
  • Take-off.

  • Sometimes this happens too, if you land your Mavic, immediately re-start the motors and take-off again.

Sometimes it happens that the drone records a negative startpoint – first failure was at "-0m" and the second time it happend (May, 13th) it has recorded "-3m" as take-off height. If a negative value your servers do a wrong calculation of the Top-Altitude. Now my Top-Altitude is around 7000 meters – Mavic can't achieve that height btw.

Any moderator please pass this to your developers that they can fix it.

I have also have Top Altitude at 2.5m in the DJIGo App but I know it is actually 86m, as my only starting altitude since I have owned the drone. All other data is fine.

Hi PaladinX, may I have the screenshot of the Top Altitude issue? Also, please kindly offer your DJI Account(the email address when you login DJI GO/DJI GO4), we'd like to check the exact status.

Hi Paladin X, does the first page of the flight records show the same altitude? Did you try to sync the flight records to the cloud to see if there is any luck?

I tried flying from a location 194m above sea level and synching the flight records but I only get  49.3m as my top altitude, quite inaccurate is this a software issue or is it a mechanical fault please?

Thanks for the confirmation. We've checked at our end, the top altitude is 49.3m, you may refer to the below picture. May I know which mobile device do you use? Is there any chance change to another recommended mobile device to verify?

Thank you Dji Susan. The launch point was definitely 190 metres Above Sea Level.
I was using a Samsung Galaxy S9+ , which has worked perfectly with the Dji Go 4 App (no crashes or errors in several hours use). I will see if I can borrow an apple device to re-test.

Yes it still says 49.3m Top Altitude when it should be more like 189m ASL. I haven't had chance to try with iOS sorry.

I hate to drag up an old thread.. However I have a 2nd hand P3 Pro and I have reset everything and done 1 flight. It shows my max altitude on the flight as 120m, which is correct.. however it shows as TOP ALTITUDE  as -108.8M

I have the latest firmware and android app.

Cheers
