First off these forums are a huge help, especially since DJI customer service is pretty much useless.
Phantom 3 pro, samsung s6 and iphone s7.  RC, bird, and batteries have current software.

Problem:  Everything was functioning correctly before the FW (1.10.90)update, now everything works the same except I now get no live video feed from the camera to the RC.  From all the research I have done on this form, I found out that i needed to look at the hidden log file on the micro-sd card.  Well I looked at it and found the dreaded 0800 and 1500 lines said device not detected.  So my question is........Has anyone been able to fix this problem by rolling back the FW?  Or is the only way to fix it would be to send it in to DJI and let them redo the software for the video module?  Please help....

Thanks in advance,
Capt.B

can u control the drone, i mean without flying, does the radio control it? Did u try a few pics and video, checked the SD card?
Checked all your connections and everything looks happy? I mean the cables between the camera and the drone?
I assume the bottom of the log is the most recent, but perhaps you should backup the log file, so u have a copy, reformat the sd, put firmware on it again, and try once more?
Then all the data in the log file will be only that one boot?
That is all I can think of. I never did any downgrades, so not sure how that process works, but I believe DJI says u cannot downgrade on this version....  whether that's true, or is the process just a pain, that's another story.
Did you reinstall your go app on your tablet/phone? Just for the heck of it? You may also consider rebinding the RC, or even resetting the RC and rebinding it.
What does your about/versions say in the GO app?

And yes, reading the few mentions of this error, DJI says a hardware issue.. Perhaps it's a fault that the new firmware brings out.. sorta sucks......

thanks for reply.  yeah the drone does everything perfect but no video feed to the go app.  It flies perfect (just like the first day i got it), can move gimbal around, can change all settings, can take pics and video, but I did not look to see if the pics showed up on SD card from computer (I will take a look at that tonight).  Then checked all cables around camera (everything looks good).  The log i inserted in previous post, is from last night.  I did a full format on the sd card (windows), then put the .bin file on it, and tried the firmware update again.  It failed, and this log file if from that attempt.  But I have tried to reinstall firmware 10+ times on the bird(with different sd cards, full format, quick, format in drone).  The RC and batteries updated fine.  I have also tried all the other tricks....reinstalled app, used a different device for go app(samsung s6 and iphone 7), different cables to go app device, i rebinded RC, BUT did not reset rc and rebind. (how is this done?)
Was also wondering how much it is going to cost from the people who have sent it in for this same problem.  From what i have read they just have to do sometype of reinstall.

dji customer service was absolutely NO help at all.  I told the rep my issues and what i had done so far.....her response was: did you try updating the software?  Did you try restarting the drone?    GGGGGRRRRRR!!!!

another ?........if i try to downgrade to 1.9 will i need to redo the RC also?  or will the current rc sw work with 1.9?

here is update text file:

I am sorry, you will need to send it in. The firmware update has corrupted your video transmission module.

When the transmission module is no longer "detected", It's not recoverable via a downgrade. Like Ken mentioned, you would need to send the unit in for service.

Just had the same thing happen, purchased Phantom 3 Pro new 10 months ago. Barely used it and now they are saying I have to pay $230 for a video downlink but they conveniently call it a gimbal video downlink and thus no longer covered. Gumball is working fine, still takes pictures, moves etc. Never crashed or hard landed it, babied the thing. This will be the last DJI product I am buying. I bet all they do is reflash it anyway..

I am sure one of the DJI reps here, can at least try to help if u give them a case number.. they do a good job here, trying to help as much as possible. They actually listen (read) and act on what is said....

yes I agree, the ones on this forum seem to be a lot more tech savvy and willing to help.  But the ones on chat and the phone are just reading from a script, and don't even listen to what you say.

My biggest question is......................what is this going to cost me?   I don't need exact numbers,,,just a close estimate. 75, 100, 200, 300.   Please say 75....hehehe

My bird is 2 years old so it is out of warranty.......

But it doesn't seem right, that a firmware update released by dji caused my phantom to malfunction, then I have to foot the bill to fix it.  But I guess the owner assumes responsibility when they DL and try to update their drone.  Still doesn't seem right though.

if the firmware log file mentions the unit not detected, i doubt rebind will help, but then again... it does not hurt to check and try all the easy things that just MIGHT work.

It's been there about a month now, probly called 5 times, asked for supervisors, they said they were checking the flight loggs then came back and said even if it just failed I have to pay $230 which I did two days ago. Case number is CAS-581228-K3S2B9. It's not that I don't have the money, it's the principal of paying to fix something that I didn't break on an almost new expensive item, and its probably a software glitch anyway. If this is how it goes down they got their last $230 out of me

Sorry to tell you this , It must go in , many  members have tried different things to fix it  BUT I HAVE NEVER  HEARD OF ANY OF THEM WORKING  , the  end result is always the same , send it in .

I have seen this countless times

Possible cause : not saying you did this , just what can cause it :
Did you happen to have the RC transmitter on when updating the AC or Leave the Update on the AC SD card and then turn on the RC and AC, this is the most common cause of this,  (Not the only One , but most common )  Regarding cost :   I had one member say it was 60 dollars to fix another was closer to 100 .  If the Fw is just corrupted, this would sound about right ,BUT if the Module is Toast it could be couple hundred tops , the bloody camera new is about 500 and never spend more than 50 % of value on a repair, that is my rule of thumb, espescailly  electronic s ( camera )  that is 2 years old  ( sad but true in this hobby anyway ,like I say , rule of thumb )

The faster you send it in the faster you will get it back , follow Kens Link and He will keep an ey on it for you if you ask him nice !!  Cool Members DJI Ken and Jamie /
Sorry for the bad news

To get a 'guesstimate' you could refer to the link below for pricing based on what potential components need to be replaced:

https://repair.dji.com/en/SelfRepair/PriceQuery

It will give you a general idea, but the repair team would provide you with an invoice after the evaluation prior to performing any repairs. That way, you can decide whether or not you want to move forward with the process. The North American facility would help out with shipping as well.

Paying for service after the warranty period has expired is not an uncommon with manufacturers in general. The video downlink is tied (by functionality and physically) to the camera/gimbal component, which is why it shares the same warranty period. I understand your frustration regarding this matter, but unfortunately the invoice still stands. I've provided your information to the appropriate team to ensure that the remainder of the repair process goes as smoothly as possible to get you back in the air in no time.

You can refer me to the warranty if you want, legally your right-I paid the money. Had I known my Phantom 3 would require a substantial repair $230 after only a few flights I wouldn't have purchased it.   I regret wasting money and will look to other drone manufactures going forward. I was told originally because I am in CA I'don't have my drone back in approx 5 business days. It's been over a month....took DJI a week to say they'd received it to the point I called DJI to ask if it had been lost, two days later it showed as being recieved.

Hi there, sorry for the trouble caused, may I have the model of your drone first and what is your current firmware? Is everything working firm except no video feed? More details would be appreciated.

So let me get this right. DJI's own firmware update bricks part of the unit and somehow this is THE USER'S FAULT? If all I did was download YOUR firmware and follow YOUR directions and YOU brick MY device then YOU owe me the repair.

Generally, the firmware update will not cause hardware damages. If anything goes wrong, you may send the unit in, we'll offer you a proper solution according to the damage assessment.
