This would be a nice option..........to be able to only have 1 controller for 2 different drones.

It's reasonable that the new features are part of the Spark firmware rather than the GO app (for those who are about to ask).  Otherwise, the RC's are different because the transmission and control schemes are different.

No, cause then the would earn less money.
So instead they pull the "different technology" card.

And probably it is different technology,....
However if that had the balls they would make it work through an update.

From my interpretation of the presentation, it was primarily designed to use without an RC.  The Spark controller may be just a beefed up WIFI  with sticks.   Why make Spark owners who think they need an RC  pay for a more expensive Mavik controller?

What i learned from a few youtube videos the Spark remote control will come later.
So in theory when i switch the wifi switch on my mavic controller DJI could make it work.

The switch is on the Mavik, not the controller.  So the question might be "will the Spark controller operate the Mavik" when the Mavik is in WIFI mode.  It probably COULD if the control commands are identical.

Of course, all this assumes our suppositions about the Spark are correct. :-)

The toy spark uses WiFi for control and video with very limited range . The Mavic uses 2.4 and Occusync , two totally different control systems . The spark would have to be much bigger than it is to house those systems , hence the Mavic . The Mavic controller does not output a wifi signal , that comes from your phone if you are in wifi mode just like the spark will be controlled .
So in effect the spark does use the same Mavic controller in wifi .

I thought the Spark has Occusync, isn't that how the DJI Goggles connect.

No the Spark is a WiFi drone . You connect to the goggles with a cable to the controller .

Different communication protocols, simple as that.

This makes a lot of sense based on the nature of both products.
