iPad Mini 4 (GSM - but never plug in a SIM card) and outside of the larger CrystalSky monitor, it's my ideal "eyes in the sky" for my Mavic.  It will also be used with my Spark when that arrives.

I have the 2017 iPad 9.7".  Originally got the wifi only model but returned it (thank you Costco) and purchased the cellular version (but no activation of cellular service) for the gps.  I have been very happy with it.  In hindsight the iPad 4 mini would probably be a better solution if my only purpose was to use it for Mavic due to its size and the fact that I believe it will just fit into the controller ( somebody that has one can verify this).  I use my iPad for other tasks where it's nice to have a slightly larger screen.  I use the hobbytiger dji Mavic pro tablet holder which folds away pretty nicely and handles the iPad with or without a case fairly well.

I use a full size iPad Air 2 with a very simple 3D printed holder that places the iPad below the controller screen and above my wrists

This is the pic from the eBay

thank you, do you feel it gets heavy or is it easy to hold and control without the strap. I'm not a fan of the strap

I actually use the strap all the time as it allows me to hand launch and land really easily. Without the strap it could get a bit heavy after a while

I just opened up the Mavic controller as wide as it will go and measured.  Specs for iPad mini 4 claim it's 8 inches long.  Looking at the attached photo, do you think it will fit?
