Can someone explain to me why the Inspire 2 can shoot 60P with the Cinema DNG License H.264, but not in ProRes?

Afraid not but I wish you could and I also wish that it didn't crop into the image!

Prolly because the data pipe between the processor and storage media is limited in bitrate. H264 is considerably less data to move to memory than ProRes.

Yeah, ProRes 60p would be awesome!  definitely not a data rate issue, as the CDNG 60fps is presumably much larger.  Realtime transcoding / processing power perhaps.  ProRes capture on my Reds tops out at lower frame rate than they do in Red's RAW codec, so it's not too surprising to see on Inspire 2 as well.  But would love to see 60p ProRes implemented if possible!

Would also love to see this upgrade!  Very limiting to top out at just 29.97. Any insiders with any info?

Agree. Processing power may be the limitation.

As far as I know, ProRes does not support anything higher than 29.97.

When I select 50P as a frame rate the image becomes zoomed in compared to 25P. It is displayed as 'Narrow view' rather than 'Full view'. I believe this is because the camera is cropping into the sensor as it has to process more information. What I find strange is that it doesn't do this when shooting 100P but this could be because 100P is not as good quality.

If I rephrase the question.. When selecting 50P from 25P, do you notice that the image becomes zoomed in or larger?

Okay, I understand what you are asking now. I do not have an answer, though. I normally shoot in 29.97 and only deviate for testing/experimenting. I have seen the "narrow" designation on some FPS choices and have briefly selected those choices to see what they look like but have no idea the reason behind this behavior.

A lot of cameras does have the crop crap when recording on higher frame rates.

I think its about the speed of processing, while by shooting at normal frame rate every available pixel on the sensor grabs the light,
on higher frame rates only the native resolution 3840 × 2160 pixels is used on the sensor.

I think that your correct Skypal, I'm glad that it's not just an issue with my camera.

Most likely a processing power limitation. It can shoot CDNG 60 because it is uncompressed, just limited by the storage mediums write speed.
I shoot with the sony FS7 camera a lot, which can shoot prores 60, but the camera is huge in comparison to the Inspire 2, so I think this is to be expected.

The Inspire 2's shooting options as they are now are highly impressive considering the size of it.
