To answer your question, uploading higher-def files (e.g. 4K) is the way to go. Obviously, you need to view the higher def version as well. But it doesn't matter if you're not using a 4K screen; the 4K version will still look superior. YouTube's compression (bit-rate) varies according to video resolution and frame-rate. They're much more generous at resolutions above 1080p, and it's that reduced compression more so than the number of on-screen pixels, that has the biggest impact on picture quality. |
