After a long wait for it to arrive, another 8 people had joined my location to view the train.

Thanks Mr B,   I was quite happy with that,  and pleased I changed my mind about which side of the track to capture it.

Were the rest of the group who assembled, interested in your drone?  And were you the only one with a flying camera?

The group was spread out and he was the only one that came over, the others seemed a bit miserable when they walked past.   Only one guy interesting in the drone though.   My fault as I had prepared a couple of my cards ready to hand out,  but never gave any away.

When I filmed the Leander, I was surprised how quickly the small group that formed, melted away afterwards.

Perhaps us train spotters are just anti social. - Curious though that someone else who caught the same train further along the route did reach out in the comments on YouTube.

Probably because they are so unusual to see,    what surprised me is how many people turned up at my spot,   Ive tried the last 3 steam engines from there and I was the only one.

I did wonder that.  What did you think of the sounds on the video,  they were all captured with the Pocket 3.

Yes they came through well. Maybe not quite aligned with the drone sequence, but  definitely setting the right atmosphere.

Any alignment issue is down to the muppet doing the editing.

You may be right about that as I did see the diesel locomotive on the tail end of the train.  Or maybe it is a combination of using both.

Sounds like our national train company then Though their trains nowadays aren't nearly as stylish as this one is

The steam trains are always late in my experience with them,  the commuter trains tend to be pretty good on this line unless a tree falls etc.

Could just be fake smoke/steam being created to look like the old locomotive is doing the work.

I really hope not.     Ive developed a negative version of this shot so that I can try and print my own in cyanotype.

Its on my list for today,   the negative is prepared I just need to coat up the paper with the chemicals and let them dry,   while they are drying I'll be stopping the sealer off the tiles in the hall way.    No rain was forecast for today so I had other plans,  but as usual it's now raining.

No doubt with this unpredictable weather you just have to keep your plans flexible.

Now that is a proper steam train shot!
Some die hards will complain about that overhead pole which is in front of the engine, but I think it would have been very hard to take a shot where this massive engine is in between those.

Sorry about that Monty,     Ive had a word with the train line and they've taken the wires down for me whist the train passed.
