My Italian is way too poor to follow completely but this looks like a very thorough review.

Very interesting weight comparison between the original Mini and the Mini 2. Looks like its actually lighter than the advertised 249g - so adding an ID sticker isn't going put you into the next weight category

The Mini 2 battery seems to share the same connections and fits in the old charging dock but I wouldn't say its interchangeable for flight use. This is also where the weight savings have been made by the looks of the video review.

This could find its way onto many a Christmas list this year.

How do you professional operators feel about having a Mini 2 in your arsenal for when heavier drones would be restricted?

What I'd like to know is if it's C classed for the new European rules. Can't find anything about that

Does it take the same batteries as the mini?

Does the DJI Mini 2 work with the original charging dome?   If so do I need any additional pieces?

I don't have the dome, so I don't know how it's setup - but the connector on the M2 is USB-C. The 1 was not USB-C. If the dome has a replaceable cable, then you would just need to buy a cable that has USB-C on one end and whatever on the other end.

The batteries for the Mini 2 look slightly different than those for the Mini 1. Maybe it's just cosmetic and the shape and electrical contacts are the same. Can the Mini 1's batteries be used in the Mini 2?

Sadly, the batteries from M1 do not fit M2 (and vice versa).

I suspect this is related to the 249g

Mavic Mini 1 fit and work well in Mini 2, viceversa not. Go to watch italian video posted up by JetSam in this page go to minute 8:20 and use traduction subtitles if availables.
...but using them may not be recommended for warranty or efficiency purposes, I think, as they have a lower voltage.

Does the Mini 2 work with the DJI racing edition goggles?

I love my goggles, always fly my original Mavic with them, never fly without.

I wanted the mini purely for size, portability is important to me. If they don’t work to day, can there be a firmware update to have them work.

this looks like a strengthen mavic Mini1
or a lighter Mavic Air 2
DJI once again managed to amaze me

yes ... it is
the different type (high voltage) and  lighter battery  made it possible to improve all aspects of the previous Mini
stronger propellers and strengthened frame that make it more stable
4K 100Mbits camera
RAW photo DNG
the Ocusyn transmission that increased strength of the radio signal (there is no comparison with the previous Mini)
all remaining within the weight of the new European category 249 gr

THIS WILL BE THE BEST SELLING EVER ... and not just for Christmas

professional pilots ... impossible to do without
Even if having certificates and professional drones like enterprise ones
this Mini2 is the drone to be combined with any other drone in the fleet without problems

or because it can fly with fewer restrictions
or why if there are problems with the primary one this could do
or simply because you like having it

I already can't imagine without Alex

Just curious: Will Mini 2 support DJI Goggles?

Once DJI updates the firmware for the Smart Controller for the Mini 2 you should be able to plug them in and use them.  I have seen several post on other forums showing people using the MA2 with the Smart Controller connected to the DJI Goggles.

They finally fixed the mini the first was absolute trash if you have one and are reading this do not fly it over 500 ft away I was about 1/4 mile away and mine cut out it disconnected and landed itself in a tree did not attempt return home and it had a fresh battery in the drone I loved the little  thing camera was great but the range absolute trash I’m an amateur photographer and it was a great price point for me I would love to buy a new one but do not have the cash I’m glad dji fixed this and if you have one sell it now and buy the second one the first one is terrible I also tried to contact them as this was most definitely a glitch with my drone they told me it was my issue for flying it that far (less then 1/4 of the advertised range) if you are going to buy a drone and you expect good support go to parrot and buy the anafi they have great customer support but if you are going with dji do not crash it or break it because they do not care they just want your money. Pics that I took

That wouldn’t be smart from DJI since they would sell additional Smart Controller and make customers happy which have several Mavics and would only need one controller for all. I for example have this use case.

Technically it should not be an issue since the Mini 2 also uses OcuSync 2.0 which is fully supported by the Smart Controller.

Leider nicht mit dem Smart Controller kompatibel.

If you add "as gestures mode" i will buy. What i mean is simple to do.
3 x power clicks ( without contoller and smartphone ) drone start from hand
make 3 photos as Air 1 and go back...

I think it's more than this - there are also better motors and different props. It is a slightly different design (an upgrade). This is like asking why can't you make last years car like this years car. I also think it remains to be seen how much better the duration is.

As another user has mentioned, the Mini 1 battery will fit the Mini 2. I flew it all around with the Mini 1 battery today with no problems. Not recommended I am sure. The Mini 2 battery will not fit into the Mini 1 battery cavity, probably by design.

No it does not. Same as Air 2 will not link to Goggles RE. But you can use goggles for the Air 2 via the Smart-controller's HDMI. No support for the mini 2 yet though on the smartcontroller.
It took 4 months for the Air 2 Smartcontroller support so expect same or longer for the Mini 2.

It took so long because of the Software. In this case the firmware update should be released much faster; hopefully
