The compass is the magnet. All iron is subject to magnetic influences.  It's just the way it is. Try putting a piece of iron next to your drone while it is powered and see the error message that appears.
Better yet, ignore the truth and watch as your drone flys away by itself. However, I would not recommend that you come back into this forum and ask what went wrong.

That is true if the iron objects are magnetized, which they are if staying stationary and thus getting magnetized by the earth's magnetic field. A steel fence can hence confuse a compass nearby. An unmagnetized iron object will not affect a compass unless maybe within a few cm from it.

Idiot. It has nothing to do with being a magnet or not. A concrete parking area full of rebar will screw up you drone if you take off from it.

You give her too much credit. She would need to double her I.Q. to reach idiot level.

Yet another person who had trouble following her physics lessons, believing that her Facebook account and the likes she gathered was the only thing in life that mattered!

If you take off from reinforced concrete. then you ARE within a few centimeters of the rebar. And any large ferrous object will affect the aircraft's compass, it does not have to be magnetized.
