I bought my Phantom 3 Standard just days ago, and it literally fell out of the sky, the footage shows no signs of anything colliding with the drone. This crash meant the part connecting the camera to the body is bent, but everything else seems to be working (I can't test the camera because it the DJI GO app says the camera is disconnected.

I looked around online for any sort of cover that I had - I saw that the camera and gimbal has got a 6 month warranty - what does this mean though? Does it mean that if I send in the drone will it get repaired for free? Will I have to pay?

Any advice would be much appreciated as it is my first drone and am keen to get flying again!!

Thanks,

Joe

Post the flight log and maybe everyone can see what might have happened.  Sounds like you have a bent yaw arm and probably broken flat ribbon cable.  That can be fixed.

This explains what the warranty covers:
https://www.dji.com/service/policy
Basically DJI cover anything that is proved to be a malfunction but if it's caused by the pilot or the cause can't be determined, they don't.

In fall-from-the-sky incidents, the first thing to look at is the battery and its state of charge at the start of the flight.
For your incident, if you want a better understanding of the cause go to
http://www.phantomhelp.com/LogViewer/Upload/
Follow the instructions there to upload your flight record.
Come back and post a link to the report it provides

As the drone has been crashed, we will conduct data analysis to check the crash reason if it is in warranty period. If it is not the pilot error, free repair will be applied. More details, please check here: http://www.dji.com/service/policy.

Sorry for the crash, I would recommend you contact the Support, then send the drone in for diagnosis, the drone needs to be evaluated after it arrives, it will be covered by warranty if it's product malfunction and within the warranty period. You can refer to the link to contact the Support.  http://www.dji.com/support

Here is the flight report http://www.phantomhelp.com/logviewer/BNDB7GLW6Z70666NRWUF/

There aren't a lot of obvious indications for the cause of your crash.
The usual suspects can be eliminated.
The battery is full at the start of the flight  and still above 3.5V per cell at the end of the flight record so the battery does not appear to be a problem.
ANd there's no suggestion of user error.
There is a speed error 3 seconds before the crash.
What role this played is not immediately obvious but perhaps it is a factor?
DJI should be able to get more info from the internal flight data.
Good luck with this one.

How do I send it back? What forms/documents do I need to fill out?

Thanks,

Thanks,

Synch your flight record by clicking the cloud icon on the flight record page in the app.
Then go to DJI online support and start an online chat with their people to get things started.
They'll lead you through the steps.
