I tell ya.. downloaded DaVinci... crashes and no idea how to edit, barely got the stupid video to load.
Downloaded and paid for VSDC... the video and audio is choppy as can be, totally unusable, even after hours of trying to get it to convert to something usable for the web.
So.. what the heck do you all use to edit videos?
I want to take out the ends of the video that are not part of the awesome "ride" or sketchy turns etc... and then add the music "I" want, vs whatever the APP allows (I think like 4 audio tracks).
I just realized yesterday I could do a custom movie, but I already cleared the video cache on the phone and the SD card, so.. all the videos are on my NAS.
Sorry.. just have all these videos and want to break them up and make something "better" and cannot find a dadgum software package that does not require 4 degrees and a secret handshake.
Not sure what operating system you're using, but, as I mentioned in the other thread, if you're on Windows, you could use Windows Movie Maker.
Still on the free side is HitFilm Express. It has all the basic editing capabilities as well as other features like compositing videos. It can be a bit overwhelming at first but there are a lot of tutorials on YouTube to support HitFilm.
I have Windows 7 and 10 machines and have used Camtasia Studio over the years. It's gotten better and now days I think it's one of the best. Has all the edit features I could want, it is laid out intuitively (in my opinion) and there is a trial you can download. The price is slightly steep ($199) but it's the only video editor you'll ever need as far as I'm concerned.
I use Corel Studio 10. I tried free software and couldn't get anywhere. I also wanted a program that I own and not have to pay monthly a membership.
I feel the cost, $78 was reasonable and it has done everything I wanted it to do.
I have an Alienware Aurora, i7.. the PC handles it fine, just not sure how to cut and paste and blah blah.. heh.. the normal 'thangs'. It's all good, Sony Vegas was pretty darn easy so now I have both.
I use and like the Cyberlink PowerDirector suite and have seen comments from others who do too. It works well, is reasonably easy to use, and is very competitively priced.
I once downloaded that free DavinciResolve to try it out but it kept crashing. Decided to delete the upload. Instead, I downloaded the free 30 day trial version of the FCPX, bought it and never looked back. One of the best editing SW on there.
Best of all, user friendly !

I have Cyberlink Power Director on my laptop which is not a real great computer. Do you think it will work alright or will I have to upgrade to a better computer?
The reason I have it was for a 4k camcorder that I bought about a year and a half ago. But, I never used it. I have a Mavic and Spark and wanted to start to learn to edit and create some decent videos.
The laptop is a Lenovo with a 1.3 ghz quad core AMD processor. I did upgrade it to 16 gb of ram and a solid state drive . My concern is it just has the standard video card

For "how to"... there are many videos on YouTube in which they explain how to do things in Davinci Resolve...

I really couldn't say for sure. All I know is that -- as you obviously already realize -- editing 4K videos takes a lot of computing power. When you ask if I think it will "work", I guess my answer is "it depends". If by "work" you mean will you be able to edit videos then yes, I imagine it will work. However, I also suspect that some editing operations will take a while to complete.

One gets what one pays for. Free is free but there's no guarantee ! However if you paid for it and it doesn't meet the products claims than just return it and get a REFUND!
