When will we get the self-unlocking feature? It's already late December now. I'm going on to my vacation 3 days later, I'd like to take the mini drone with me. But my destination is on an Island, and unfortunately, the whole island is within the blue zone, so I need the feature or it's a brick to me.

I live in a blue zone and I have to make a 10 minute drive to the nearest gray zone where I can fly the drone so at this point it’s pretty much useless to me I am very disappointed with the app I would very much like the unlocking feature so that I could at least fly 50-100 feet in my own backyard and not have to drive those 10 minutes just to be able to fly it. Because at this point I’m debating on just selling it and giving it a bad review

I don’t think you’re going to get a direct answer from DJI other than what’s already known. I hate to sound like a butt, but you have to realize that there are tons on threads just like yours threatening the same things and a lot returning their MM as defective because of it. I say do what you have to do. Either return it, write a bad review or wait on the new firmware.

I realize you are mostly just venting your frustration with DJI.  However, in the case of the MM I think that the Marketing Department overrode the Engineering Department in rushing the MM to market to take advantage of Christmas sales.  Just a lot of coding for them to do to update the firmware and DJI Fly App to get some of our requested items added.

Just spoke with the Electronics Department Manager at a large local retailer and he said that of the 15 original MMs they sold all but 2 have been returned.  He said he can't get enough Parrot Anafis right now to meet the demand.  Looks like DJI definitely hurt themselves by rushing the MM out to market for Christmas sales.  I bet Parrot is not complaining though.

Although the multitude of online reviews on the Anafi are not overwhelmingly positive so some if not many of them will get returned I'd bet.  Oh well, nothing like having users be your best beta testers.  Most smartphone manufacturers learned early to use a select group of power users to beta test their products.  Yeah, they still have a few bugs in the software but you will never get a 100% bug free smartphone on initial release.

I'm sure there will be some, no many naysayers but the MM and Fly app, as a whole, only had 1 or 2 minor bugs.  A lot of the desired capabilities from more advanced DJI drones were probably left off intentionally as this drone was intended to be marketed toward beginner/1st time drone fliers.  However, I think they overlooked the fact that due to it's mobility many people bought it as a 2nd drone to travel with and were expecting more capabilities.  Just my opinion and I also respect your opinion if you disagree.  Just throwing this out there.
