I am looking between the Mini 3 Pro and Mavic 3 Classic. I can't find relevant information on the color sampling or bit depth, so I thought I'd ask here. Even DJI CS had no clue. I am assuming the Mini 3 Pro is shooting 8-bit 4:2:0? I see that the Mavic 3 Classic shoots 10-bit D-Log but they failed to mention what color sampling. Is it 10-bit 4:2:0 or 4:2:2? I know the Cine is shooting 4:2:2 with ProRes, but what is the color sampling for the Mavic 3 Classic. Thank you!

My questions are:

  • What is the Bit Depth and Color Sampling for the Mini 3 Pro?
  • What is the Color Sampling for the Mavic 3 Classic?

Hi there. Thank you for bringing this query to us. Please refer to the information below. Hope this helps. Please let us know if you have other inquiries. Thank you for your valued support.

DJI Mavic 3 Classic
8-bit (JPEG)
12-bit (DNG)
10-bit (D-Log mode for recording)
8-bit (Normal color mode for recording)

Also, the Chroma of DJI Mavic 3 Classic is 4:2:0

DJI Mini 3 Pro
If it is a 12 or 48-MP photo with the format of JPEG, the color depth is 8 bit;
if it is a 12 MP photo with the format of RAW, the color depth is 12 bit;
if it is a 48 MP photo with the format of RAW, the color depth is 10 bit;
if it is a video, the color depth is 8 bit.
The dynamic range of HDR/RAW is 12.6 f-stops, and that of the others is 10.9 f-stops.
* Some mobile devices are not compatible with the 10-bit specification, so the video may not play. It may also freeze or have abnormal colors when played.
