it's 2023 - where is the USB webcam function?

how long does it take for such an obvious and basic feature to be added.

Hello, there. We apologize for the inconvenience. According to the deifintion given by Wikipedia, a webcam is a video camera that feeds or streams an image or video in real time to or through a computer network, such as the Internet. Webcams are typically small cameras that sit on a desk, attach to a user's monitor, or are built into the hardware. Webcams can be used during a video chat session involving two or more people, with conversations that include live audio and video.
However, Osmo Pocket, DJI Pocket 2 and Osmo Action cameras are connected to a mobile device using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth when the DJI Mimo is being launched. This connection method does not have the “network browser” feature and the Bluetooth or Wi-Fi transmission distance is short. Thus, it is not suitable to be used as a common remote network camera lens.

Unfortunately, no official DJI solution for that as of now.

I have heard of a third-party solution for this known as CosmoStreamer, but when I tried it myself I couldn't get it to work. Don't know if there are other ways to do it. Would appreciate it if DJI enabled us to do this, especially if there also was the simultaneous ability to use tracking with it.

A bit funny is the translation of the meaning of the camera.

There is the CosmoViewerNG software that allows you to unofficially use the Pocket 2 as a webcam over WiFi.

It's just a matter of software on your part to give you the ability to use pocket 2 as a webcam.

Hi cosmoviewer works, but the screen of the black pocket blaks out. is that normal? I suceeded also in using it as a webcam using ndi protocol over many cam
The only thing is distance that is small, if you walk away it loses connection
thanks

My guess is that the screen blacking out when connected is normal, as it does the same thing when connected to a phone or tablet using the official Mimo app. But not entirely sure, as I have said before I couldn't get the CosmoViewer to work for me.

Hello dear DJI Wanda,

today it's working with OBS Studio/OBS Streamlabs.
But the audio quality suffers a lot with that and its absolutely not for good use, because there is also a big latency from camera to computer.
Will there be ever the possibility to use the Pocket 2 as a normal webcam with cable to cut out the latency, like a new firmware upgrade to do this with an extra mic?
I mean it's working on the Pocket 3 (from what I read in the internet), why not on the Pocket 2?
Is the hardware of the Pocket 2 not able to do it via cable?

Kind regards.

So you're telling me I bought a $400 video camera that I can't use as a video camera?  Unacceptable. Had I known this I would have bought a different product. Seems the Pocket 3 can be easily used as a webcam.  Cannot DJI fix this?

As we explained above, it is not suitable for this function due to the connection method.
We are sorry for the inconvenience.

That's utter bull..., any camera today when you connect it via USB already asks you if you want to use it to transfer data, charge or PC cam, even the Chinese ones, and this one can't? Of course it can, but you're not interested for whatever reason, but you can do it, you can, the difficult thing is getting you to move your fingers to program something of this caliber.

Sorry for the late response. We confirmed again with our engineers. DJI Pocket 2 does not support this function and is unable to add the function through the firmware update because of the hardware. You can check the explanation above as well.

Hi Wanda,

I know you have responded to this same question a few times but could it not be achieved by making a PC version of the Mimo app? As the connectivity is already there (do it all handle) between the smartphone and pocket 2 why can it not work with a PC and be able to be used a webcam

Hi there, just to double confirm, you are trying to use it to see if DJI Pocket 2 supports the webcam feature, right? If yes, we are sorry that we have not tested so and DJI Pocket 2 does not support being used as a webcam. Hope for your kind understanding.
