Last winter i ruined a decent pair of windproof gloves due to the tops of the sticks ruining the thumb, so i ask, why are they so sharp? why don't they have rubber on the tops and why were they changed from the DJI N1 sticks, I would have paid an extra quid just to have at least rubber in the sides, they help when its cold, certainly better than metal does.

Does anyone have any ideas for modifying them? cause i cant find any sticks with rubber tops :/

I have never seen joysticks made of rubber, but I have seen people using fingerless gloves for that purpose....

Sandpaper will reduce the edges. Also, you might want to look in an automotive parts store or hardware store for "vacuum caps" (small rubber or vinyl caps designed to fit over a fitting) they are available in different sizes and colors.
There is also "shrink tubing" that is designed to cover wires. These will slip over something (the knob of the control stick in your example) and then when heated, will shrink to fit tightly around whatever is in there.

Round the edges with a fine file etc. BUT NOT in situ.
If you have an electric drill and if the sticks are suitable you might get a more even finish and rounding by clamping the stem of the stick in a drill, switch the drill on and run the head of the stick up and down the file or jmb63's sandpaper, though I think emery? paper ( the very fine grained black paper ) might be better than sand paper.
If you try this use very light pressure when pressing the stick to a file. I can imagine 'heavy' pressure might eat the stick's head.

I'd never seen this stuff before, could be handy to keep in stock regardless, i can see a few uses already, thanks

PS, i do quite like the moulded idea, cause once moulded but before it sets, i could use an N1 stick and press it into the top to create an impression thus creating some grip

Vacuum hose caps.

Thank you, the 1st link looks promising, as i like the various internal diameters, even if they turn out to not be suitable, i can use them on my smaller dent rods as well as the larger ones

Certainly an idea, and they wouldnt take much to knock them back some as they are an alloy as opposed to steel, thats the impression i get from them, not tried sticking a magnate on them to find out mind, I would still need to spend money on an official backup set too.

You can pick up spare sticks on eBay for about £5 might be worth getting some to play with.

There's also, Milliput or perhaps epoxy putty. With regard to eBayed sticks, be very careful when trying to fit ebayed sticks, some ebayers dont know their stuff and 'make mistakes'. I bought some metal sticks for the Mavic Mini, when I tried them they had the wrong thread, if I had used force to screw them home I would probably have knackered the threads on the controller.

@Bashy, seriously, get the rubber or vinyl Vacuum caps.   For RC Pro and RC/RC2 the 5/16" x 7/8" caps are PERFECT.  And these things are inexpensive.  And once they get oily/dirty etc, just toss em and throw on another fresh set.  They make a controller GREAT.  And so much more fine control.
