Hi guys!

I’ve received my Pocket 3 today and so far I am really happy with its performance!
On the hardware side though, I’ve noticed some things of which I’d like to know if it should be that way.

First thing is a rattle in the gimbal itself when it’s in the off position. When holding the gimbal horizontally with the screen facing upwards, I can hear something rattling inside when shaking the camera from left to right. I guess it’s the stabilization for the sensor, but I’d like to know if any of you guys has the same. Everything works as it should.

Second thing is the joystick. It has a little bit of play before actually pressing a button. I think it’s normal as well, but than again, I’d like to check it first.

Please share any concerns you have, that way we can determine whether the Pockets we have are actually 100% okay.

Thanks!

Here is a small clip of the sound. I believe it's normal, but just so you know in case someone else has the same question.

Hi,

I have the exact same issue.

I even returned my unit due to this. Yesterday I’ve got a new one but it has the same rambling sound. It sounds like something is loose in the gimbal.
I hope it won’t damage the gimbal on long term as I will bring it along on my hiking trips. So lot’s of rattling will happen.

Difficult to show the issue but this is how I recorded it?

Ps. How can I share dropbox link on this site?
I get ‘you don’t have permission to post an url link.’

Hi,

I have the exact same issue.

Hi!

I’ve concluded that it is normal to hear this rattle. The sensor itself is stabilized as well and when the power is off, the sensor hangs loose in its stabilization, hence the rattle. It’s gone when it’s powered on.
Both the Pocket 3’s I’ve had, made this noise and it sounds familiar to what I can hear in other cameras that have stabilization.

I have no experience with Dropbox links, Google Drive works for me.

Sound you are hearing is coming from its focus module.
So don't shake too much.

Hi, Marc_v_L. Thank you for patiently waiting. We now received feedback from our relevant team, and after a thorough investigation, it has been determined that this is normal. Osmo Pocket 3 adopts a magnetic axis lock design instead of a mechanical lock. Therefore, when it is shaken while powered off, there may be a slight sensation of looseness accompanied by a clicking sound caused by the magnet reattaching after a slight movement. Please rest assured that this is a normal phenomenon. Thank you for your kind understanding.

Hi, my bad, it should be working now, thanks for the quick response

Hi there,

Thank You for your patience. We have checked with the relevant team on this matter with the provided video, as per their confirmation this product has no defects and it is safe to be used.

Osmo Pocket 3 uses magnetic axis locks. After the device is powered off, the gimbal axis locks are not entirely secured and may have a slightly loose feel to them. The locks can be undone by pushing with your hand, and there will be impact noise when the device is shaken. Also, the lens focus module is in a relaxed state after the device is powered off and can also produce a slight noise when the device is shaken. After the device is powered on and the axis locks are removed, the motors drive and control the gimbal, and the focus module is powered to enable focusing functionality. The product is normal if no noise is generated when it is shaken at this stage. Please be assured.

To protect the focus module and gimbal structure from damage, try to avoid repeatedly and forcibly shaking the device when it is powered off or using the gimbal camera on a platform that is subject to severe vibrations.

I hope this information has helped to clarify your inquiries. If you have any other questions, kindly let us know. Thank You!

to add:  if you are shaking  to hear the rattle, you will also feel the vibration of the motors on turn on.  it would be best to calibrate the gimbal to correct any issues  if the camera is bounced around.
