To be honest I did not dig into the actual history of every one of them - but mostly they are natural caves/niches used for some religious (usually) retreats, as History in our land goes looooong ago there were many religions or cults like Siromahomilite - who valued poverty and basic lifestyle so those were great places and then yes some of them were prosecuted by authorities...  but in any case I like them as the stone forms are amazing and challenging to fly

Some are very challenging to reach - some like this one are easy - a few steps from the parking - but all require travel - what makes them worthwhile ;)
