I've seen some mass produced solar planes for hobbyists however they require so little power because the wingspan is so big they just glide and the prop is just enough to barely keep it in the air.

With that statement, do you think we'll see a solar DJI drone in the near future?

this guy built one for himself that flew for over 30 minutes and is no working on one to fly even longer.  so if a one man team can do it why not a major corporation that is well funded and with plenty of employees available to do it.
