You mean C1 - A1
Because if your drone is C1 you are absolutely not obligated to be restricted by A2 condition wich are designed for C2 drone.

Yes, if I want to fly in areas with airports, I need an A2 certificate, even if I fly according to A1

In the original text of the European Commission A2 is absolutely not intended to fly drones near airports.

From what I understand it is the Danish law that requires having an A2 certificate to fly :
-closer to people with a drone other than C0 or C1 but only with C2 (which is provided for in law 947)
-closer to airports (which is a particularity of Denmark).
