My pocket 2 will no longer show a flashing red light on the screen when I hit record, even though the red light still flashes on the handles after I hit record.  The other issue is that the record button will no longer stop the recording, and I have to fully power down the pocket 2 to get it to stop.  I doubt this is encoding the last few moments of recording to the flash drive when I stop recording this way.  Is this b behavior anyone else has experienced and possibly found a way to fix?  I can't even try to update drivers because the app you use with the Pocket 2 was crashing, so I deleted it and now can't get it to download and install from anywhere, including through DJI's site directly.
Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds very weird behaviour. So there is no indicator on the screen for the recording, but the led flashes red? And you can start the recording with the press of a record button, but are unable to stop it using the same button? How are the recordings after you have powered off the Pocket 2?

As for the app problem, do you remember which app version you had? Could you be able to download an earlier version of DJI Mimo from APKMirror, for example? Also, have you given your phone the permission to install apps from sources outside Play Store (assuming you are using Android)?

I'd otherwise suggest seeing if a factory reset would fix the problem, but doing that probably requires you to re-activate the Pocket 2, and the app is necessary for that, so maybe one should first rule out the other possible causes of the problem before that.

One thing you could possibly try as well is considering the questions regarding the memory card used. Is it a DJI-recommended brand and model? When was the last time you formatted the card? Is it from a known tried-and-true manufacturer? Did you buy it from a reputable source, or is there a possibility that it is a counterfeit card from some suspicious online retailer?

Good luck in attempting to solve the problem, I hope you find a way to fix it or at least get help from a DJI representative that could help you with this.

I will have to play around with my Android app settings to see if that is holding me up on the software end.  It very well may be since my phone is new and likely blocking outside installs by default.

Regarding the camera itself, you correctly described the behavior of the camera, and when I checked, sure enough, nothing was encoded to the memory card even though the red LED on the handle was flashing.  The card is one I have used in this camera for a while now with no issues, and I honestly never thought the memory card would cause that type of camera behavior.  Why would the memory card cause the red LED to blink, but not the record icon on the screen?

Anyway, I decided to try another memory card anyway to exhaust all possibilities, and all the strange behavior disappeared, so the memory card was the issue.  How do I reformat the old card to see if it can be salvaged?  Can I do that on the camera itself, just in case I can't figure out the Android software issue?

Thank you for your input.

Glad to hear you were able to find out the cause of the issue and solve it.

It indeed is very likely that your phone blocks installations outside Play Store by default and you need to allow it separately forehand.

The camera itself has an option for formatting the memory card in the Options menu, can't remember where exactly but should be relatively easy to find. And actually, in many cases it is recommended that you format the card by using the camera itself, rather than a phone or a computer, as that will set it up with the file system that is optimal for the camera.

Happy filming!

Reformated old card on the camera and it works fine now.  Still strikes me as odd behavior for an SD card issue, but glad it is now resolved, I was concerned the camera may have a more serious issue.  Thank you for your help!

No problem, just glad to hear your problem was solved And I certainly understand the relief of not having to get it repaired nor to buy a new camera. I hope the card works better from now on.
