During a 13 mile hike last weekend, I took a turn over the moors to Hayfield, past Mount Famine and South Head (a first for me).
Rather more strenuous than I anticipated, and so I stopped for my picnic in a quiet and remote valley near the Cowburn Tunnel.
Whilst resting, I sent the Mini3Pro up to scout out the lie of the land, to get some idea of what lay ahead.  More hills!

Trouble was. I had still to climb two more of those hills to reach home  

Blériot, that Pano was great, and the landscape is utterly beautiful. Pretty cool to "send up the scout" too.

Harder than I'd anticipated, for sure.  I was quite tired by the end.
But I'm reassured that my stamina and fitness have improved during this year's efforts.

Can't blame you one bit for taking a few days off to recuperate.  Not only was it a long walk but with challenging hills also.

The next big challenge will be the 18-mile boundary circuit around the village.
But that will be split into two consecutive days.

That sounds like a challenging project and one that I'd have to beef up my daily walks to be able to do.  No doubt you'll successfully complete it as you are more used to like treks than me.

The last time I did it, I split it into four sections over a week. And that was in February when the ground was soggy and hard going.  With luck, it should be easier underfoot in September.

Hopefully the weather will cooperate and there will be no mud to hassle with.  

My granddaughter hurt her knees while playing the catcher position in High School softball so she doesn't like to run a lot.  So to get her exercise in she has taken up long distance skating.  Fortunately for her there are plenty of wide sidewalks that she can use.  However she does have to be careful at cross street intersections.  She has tried to get me to join her but I'm not that stable on roller skates.    No doubt the below is what would happen to me.

I expected a few moments of solitude. But in the half-hour i spent there having my picnic lunch, I was passed by 3 Cycle trekkers, two women walking dogs, and a group of kids doing Duke of Edinburgh activities.  It felt like the M1
