Wow. Looks nice but they really should reuse the metal at the very least.

Looks colourful in the sunshine. But what a mess!  Are there plans to clear it away?

The scenery changes a bit every year. They just rot there and rust, so that woud bea good name.

Seems like they would have scrapped them years ago unless the cost is more than what they would have got out of the materials salvaged.  In any case they are now somewhat of an eyesore.

They are an eyesore. Standing 15 stories high and can be seen for miles. They should be coming down soon, to make way for a wind turbine assembly area. I am hoping to get the progress work.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get to document the project.

Nicely done. There is something about rotting old boats that is attracting. IT's weird.

Thanks looking forward to it. I hve been called to ask if I would do it. The company and the Economic Development group are looking to document it, but when it rolls around you never know who will get it. There is allot of politics in the mix.

No doubt there will be politics involved but hopefully you'll come out the winner off the project.

I work with both groups. I have done websites and photography for the energy group and also for the economic development entity. Chances are good. I am starting to like the heavy industry shots.

Sounds like you have a bit of an in then.  I've seen how politics comes into play in this area way to many times so again I hope you are successful.

It started in the 1930s. They only move what sells. A bit crazy.

It's very weird isnt it.    That one is supposed to be an oyster catcher rather than a boat,  but I never made too much sense of it.

That’s a great shot - I’m sure that’s going to cost somebody a fortune to clean up

It's a salvage yard. It's been there since the 30s. Somehow they make money on it

Yes but there is a high steel fence between the land and the water.

Is it? I don't think anyone can just go in and steel it.  It's too heavy and cumbersome.I think they don't want the public to notice it, or they are worried about people going in and getting hurt.

I'm guessing they also remove the valuable metals there?

Yes, they tow them in and wait for people to need parts. Not sure how they handle it.

So these are worth protecting.

I think the salvage company gets a reward forgetting the ship, detoxifying it and bringing it to their tow yard. They probably remove the valuable metals and parts and then hope that people need the steel if not they let it rot. I think they don't want to get the attention of the nature lovers that don't want ships rotting in their backyard. I think these ships are like a pallet of pavers of bricks they are heavy and bulky and for the most part not worth stealing because it takes too much effort. What do you think?

That could be it for sure.
It will depend on which metals are still inside.
