I'm using a tablet that doesn't have mobile data to control my NEO. Because the NEO uses WiFi to connect to my tablet, I can't connect to the internet at the same time. My NEO requires a firmware update, The app has downloaded the firmware, but I can't find a way to start the update. The only chance I get to update is in the home page, but the Flysafe ALSO needs an update, but I can't download that because I need to be connected to the NEO, and the home WiFi is disconnected.

Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out. Please try the steps below;

Using DJI Fly:
1. Enable Wi-Fi on the smartphone.
2. Make sure the smartphone is connected to the internet. Open DJI Fly.
3. A prompt will appear in DJI Fly when a firmware update is available. Tap the prompt and follow the on-screen instructions.
4. Tap to download, and wait until DJI Neo is updated to the latest firmware version. During an update, please do not power off DJI Neo or exit the DJI Fly app.
5. During the update process, it is normal if DJI Neo restarts.
6. After the update is completed, DJI Neo will be automatically powered off. Restart it manually.

Using DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Drones Series)
1. Power on the device. Connect the USB-C port of the device to the computer using the USB-C cable.
2. Launch DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Drones Series), and log in with your DJI account.
3. Select the device and click Firmware Update on the left side of the screen.
4. Select and confirm the firmware version.
5. The firmware will be downloaded and updated automatically.
6. The device restarts itself after the firmware update is complete.

I hope this information has helped to clarify your inquiries. If you have any other questions, kindly let us know. Thank You!

Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out. Please try the steps below;

Thanks. Neither works. My mobile is connected to home wifi. I open Fly. It says Firmware update is required. I click Install, it says - Failed, connect to device. I connect to device which opens the camera view. Now there is no way to start the update, so I go back to the homepage. It now says FlySafe requires update, I click Update, it says - Network required. But there's no network because I'm connected to the Neo.  Disconnect the Neo, and nothing, dead-end.

DJI Assistant does nothing at-all. Doesn't even recognise anything is connected. It looks like it was for Windows XP or something.

When I tried DJ ASSISTANT yesterday nothing worked. But it seems to have done the firmware upgrade today. I'm not sure how the flysafe update will go though.

Now I have updated the firmware (Thank you), but I have the same problem with FlySafe. I still cannot be connected to the home WiFi AND the NEO WiFi at the same time. It says I need to be connected to the aircraft, but when I try to update, I have no network - because I'm connected to the NEO.

Hi there,

You can update the FlySafe data by using the data update feature automatically or storing the data in the aircraft manually.

Method 1:Goto Settings in DJI Fly and tap About>FlySafe Data>Check for Updates
to update the FlySafe data automatically.

Method 2: Check the website of your national aviation authority regularly and obtain
latest UGZ data to import to your aircraft. Go to Settings in DJI Fly, tap About> FlySafe
Data>Import from Files, and then follow the on-screen instructions to store and
import the UGZ data manually.

Please take note that you need to turn on the cellular data as well, you can refer the steps for 2.4 Activating DJI Neo here; DJI Neo

If issue persist please send us a video recording of the problem. This will allow us to investigate further and provide you with the most accurate solution based on the specific issue you're encountering. We are looking forward to your response for further assistance. Thank You

That's my whole point. My tablet DOES NOT have cellular data, only Bluetooth & WiFi. if I go to settings to update Flysafe it says I need to be connected to the aircraft, but if I connect to the aircraft I can't connect to the network because the aircraft is using the WiFi. Method 1 that you suggested for FlySafe 'Check for Updates' DOES NOT exist in the Neo part of DJI Fly. Method 2 also has no 'Import from Files' option.

Hi there,

DJI Fly App is not compatible with tablets as you can refer here DJI Fly. Could you try to download your DJI Fly App on your compatible mobile device that has cellular data and try to connect your DJI Neo. We are looking forward to your response for further assistance. Thank You

The tablet works perfectly well with my Mavic & Mini when connected via the DJI Remotes because the WiFi remains unused, the only issue is the Neo connects via WiFi. I don't really want to be using great chunks of my cellular data when the files update as regularly as Fly, firmware, and Flysafe.  Hardly a week goes past without an update or two. And with the Neo being brand new, it's going to get A LOT of updates. I can update the Neo firmware via Windows now, and the Neo doesn't fly more than a few feet from me, so I'm hardly going to impede high level aircraft or anything. Flysafe can stay outdated for the time being.

Thanks

Hi, I have same issue and I think something is wrong here, if drone is using wifi connection, then app should allow to download updates (frlysafe or firmware) without connecting to the drone and then connect to drone and update drone.

Download the correct variant of the Windows (I can't vouch for Mac) based program mentioned above. Then connect your powered on Neo via USB to your computer. This will allow you to update the firmware, but not FlySafe.

Yeah I don’t know why the DJI reps on here keep mentioning the use of Assistant 2 . Support for that stopped earlier this year.
It also doesn’t recognise anything connected to the computer even though the computer itself recognises DJI devices, for example my Neo, Avata 2, Mic 2, and anything else DJI.

If the computer recognises there’s a DJI device plugged in then why doesn’t the stupid Assistant 2 app?

It DOES work. Just make sure you have the consumer drone version.

Hi there,
thank you for reaching out.

Before we proceed with additional assistance, could you please confirm whether you have attempted to restart the drone? Additionally, would you be able to provide an operational video demonstrating the issue you are encountering?

Please keep us posted on the progress.
