Hello,

I am coming up to changing phones once again which will mean moving to the iPhone 16 Pro. I have already established that I would presently not be able to operate my Mavic Pro (original) drone with this phone via the DJI Go4 app (or with the iPhone 15 for that matter), so as it stands at the moment if I upgrade my phone my Mavic will be rendered unusable for aerial photography (yes you could fly it around but if you can't see the feed from its camera, what's the point?). I see I can easily get a USB-C cable to connect the phone to the DJI controller.

I currently use an iPhone 12 and while this works with my Mavic, the DJI Go4 app repeatedly crashes, which has already rendered it pretty unusable.

My question is; are DJI going to update to Go4 app to work with the latest iPhones, or produce a replacement app that enables owners of their older drone models such as the original Mavic Pro to continue operating their drones with the latest phones. As it stands I will not spend £2.5k to upgrade to a Mavic 3 when I can be sure I will be in exactly the same position with that model 5 years down the line.

DJI - not supporting and enabling backward compatibility of your products is not the way to retain your customers and get them to upgrade and invest more in your products.

Thanks

My suggestion would be buy a cheap, second-hand, compatible phone for use solely with the drone, it doesn't need a sim card in it.
Worries/aggrivation over.

I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max and have spent a few hours trying to sync my Mavic Mini to it with no success.  I came across your posting and I agree that not updating your software to function on the most popular cell phone created and which creates new phones each year with continual software updates is either idiocy or a complete lack of understanding of software cycles and care for your past products. Good work DJI! Name me one other popular iPhone app that still exists that practices a policy of no current upgrade ability?  I guess you are not interested in you consumer division.

You'll get the same answer from DJI as we've been getting for the last few years.   You're phone is not listed as being compatible.  Try a different phone that is listed.
They then will tell you, that your problem has been sent to the software people.   Its been a long, long time, and still no fix.
I just moved to the "other" software, so I don't have to put up with it anymore.   DJI doesn't like anyone to mention the "OTHER" software, and doesn't recommend using it.
But, if it works, and works well (which is does), then why not.

I had a similar issue when I upgraded from an iPhone 12 to a 14 Pro, and DJI Go4 was hit or miss even then—crashes and lag definitely made flying less enjoyable.
Unfortunately, it does seem like DJI hasn’t focused much on keeping the Go4 app updated for the latest devices, which leaves a lot of early adopters in a difficult spot. I've seen some people recommend third-party apps like Litchi or Scarlet from scarletapps.com, which apparently still work with the Mavic Pro and offer live view. That said, they’re not perfect solutions and have their own learning curves.
Another option could be keeping your iPhone 12 as a dedicated device for the Mavic, though I get that’s not ideal. As for DJI, it seems they're pushing their newer models, but it would be great if they addressed these compatibility issues, especially considering how many people still rely on older drones.
